For info, the "croissant aux amandes" is a way to recycle/use again the croissants of the day before. I'm not trying to tarnish the tastyness' reputation of this pastry, it's delicious when it's well done. That said, some places might use fresh croissant to do it.

We've been watching you guys for ages, not knowing that Paris would eventually (finally!) be part of a summer vacation. We're in town 14-18 August, between 4 days each in London and Amsterdam, and we've realized that the 15th is a national holiday in France (quel dommage). Can you recommend a way to spend this day? I'm travelling with my 18yr old son (his High School graduation gift before University) and we don't want to make plans for things that wont be open. In Canada (we live in Ottawa, the nation's capital) it can be hit/miss with what is/isn't open on national holidays and it seems to change from year to year. We already have advanced tickets for the Louvre (took your advice, 9am) and we've booked a 4.5hr food tour and 4-course dinner with a local chef - both on other days. We're huge foodies and want to do a "shop crawl" to buy provisions for a picnic and we love markets and vintage stores but we aren't big fans of the super touristy things. Also, I collect cookbooks (I have 124) so if you could recommend a great place to buy some (in French!), I would be super delighted! Thanks for your wonderful channel, sometimes I just put it on in the background when I open a bottle of wine and prepare dinner.

First, thank you so much for all your incredible videos! My husband and I went to Paris in June for 4 days and watching your videos provided me with great tips on things to do and where to eat. We absolutely loved Paris! It's a beautiful city, with so much to offer. We found everyone super friendly. We would sometimes ask for directions and if the person did not know they would quickly pull out their phone and do a search to help us. We had delicious food, never did we have something we did not enjoy. We absolutely loved the simplicity of the dishes because when ingredients are fresh you don't need to embellish it. We had breakfast everyday at a boulangerie, and I cannot believe how truly amazing the baguettes are!!! We went to Le Camion Qui Fume and had THE BEST burgers ever! There was only one place that the experience was not great and I want to call out, because I have not seen it in any videos. We went to a restaurant for dinner near the Eiffel Tower, it has a big patio area overlooking a roundabout. The food was really good, I had an amazing smoked salmon salad, the service was quick (in a way to get you out the door quickly which is understandable as there were always people waiting to sit down) but the issue came when we asked for the bill. The server presented the bill and told my husband there was a service fee added (not on the bill but when he passed the card reader to pay). My husband did not fully understand and he processed payment, right after he noticed the charge was 10 euros more then on the bill. The server said he usually charges 10 euros but he could do it for 5, that is when we realized he automatically added tip without asking us. We just let it go but were taken aback by the server's actions. That was the only time it happened though and it was on our first day there. Overall though we had an amazing time and hope to go back to explore more of the things we missed out on.

We got a New York roll at a bakery near the Eiffel tower except it had vanilla flan. AMAZING! Thanks for the videos. They'll tide us over til we can get back. ❤
