I can't wait to make this :), do you have to roll it in a baking tin? Or just leave it straight and bake it?

you should roll it to get the traditional curvy shape, even when you cut it into small pieces :-)

you can go to Target or Wholefoods - they both carry it. It's usually placed next to the rose water. Also check oriental / arabic stores in your area.

Thanks for posting all these delicous recipes!!! This also looks absolutely yummy :-) They sell pastries like this in a moroccan bakery near my house in a variety of colours (and fillings I think). Would they all be called M'Hencha, or are there different kinds with different names? I haven't tried them yet, but I definitely will ;) Lots of love!

hello alia, your recipes are really unique... and i really loved this recipe coz it's different from the regular mhancha... so i had a question, is it necessary to roll the tube it in the pan, or we could just cook the tubes as they are straight, and then cut them?? ... Thank you

I am sure they have different kinds like briwats (the triangular ones) and cigars (the cylindrical ones). and the fillings may vary as well :-) so glad you liked this recipe! :-)

Hi Alia I have a question,can I use sugar syrup except the syrup you used. I'm really excited I'm going to make it tomorrow. Thank you.

@cookingwithalia - 22.07.2013 15:18

what is sugar syrup? you can use any syrup you want, just made sure to use a little bit if it's too sweet - this way you balance the sweetness. you can also skip the syrup if you want.

Hi alia, can I use coconut oil insted of butter?

Ответить
@cookingwithalia
@cookingwithalia - 07.08.2013 11:57

interesting question - I never tried it. I would think the flavor of coconut oil is much stronger than butter. and for this specific recipe we have too many flavor already. personally, I would stick with butter.

It is a lovely recipe and has all the ingredients we like. We are familiar with the traditional date cookies but the chocolate and almond make this recipe fantastic. Thanks for sharing it.
