Fantastic vid! I owned the Hensley Street Swinger deck in blue stain and Ron Allen deck in grey stain at the same time. I was a small dude in 1989, so I used the Ron Allen with Gullwing street trucks as a street setup due to the shorter wheelbase and the tighter turn radius of those trucks-I could keep them nice and tight to avoid wheels rubbing the underside of the deck but still carve and turn quickly.
I used the Hensley mainly for ramp stuff with those Gullwing “graphite” trucks, that I suspect were just a durable plastic in retrospect. It was a super light setup and worked great for me at the time.
I did well in a couple of local comps, although I was more interested in steps, rails and kerbs. I’m still gutted that those boards were stolen.
Great video! I just received my red Hensley autographed E series deck last week. Great memories.
ОтветитьRad colorway, and obviously, Matt is a legend and a great person. I had the honor of doing a graphic for Matt 2 years ago. These remakes are great wall hangers. The quality and the reproduction of this board are just not in point. I skated so many of these, and it doesn't have the same feel. I talked with Ron Allen on the phone, and he felt the same about the quality. HSTREET is definitely making a pretty penny, especially off of Matts reissues. Nonetheless, it's still a cool board to own. Great memories
ОтветитьI still have my t shirt of street swinger in red, from 89. What a skater, what a time to be skating.
ОтветитьOne of my favorite boards to skate in 89 90 yaaa matt...why don't u give it to me brother haha✌🏻
ОтветитьI have the same issue, i want to buy a few re-issues but scared to ride them and scratch them up, didnt have that problem when they were bought for me 😂 Hope either way you are enjoying them.
ОтветитьCool, that its silk screened. Enjoying your skatevideos. Now we have money to buy decks, but no time to wear them down 😂
And we want to try new ones 😊
Just found your videos, great stuff! I have a red one on pre-order too and I'm gonna ride it till the wheels fall off. I bought a set of re-pop gullwing pro III's and my wish list includes T bones, fly paper and bridge bolts! Unfortunately I'm in Canada and that stuff is non existent.
ОтветитьSkateboards are meant to be skated
ОтветитьThat board art is giving me vibes of my old Tony Magnusson board i had till very early 2000,it rotted away from age
ОтветитьAs always a great watch !! Cant wait for the next one...we painted a H street sign on a wall in my village sadly its been demolished now
Ответитьgreetings from florissant
ОтветитьWicked deck and info. Love the extra stoke🤙🏼
ОтветитьYou will definitely get those 1K subs faster than me! Another great video!
ОтветитьHey Matt, thanks for the video. It will be fun for your current subs to say we were around back in the day before you had 10K subscribers! I wrote last vid that I was skating a cruiser board and you are inspiring me to maybe build a cruiser 80s board! Cheers! -Ickey
ОтветитьYou chose a great colorway. Personally, I would not ride it because it’s a limited edition (wall hanger).
I bought the H-Street Matt Hensley Stained Glass D-serie in red stain last year (love the graphics !).
And you are right, the VHS Public Domain was a "game changer" for street skating in 1988, so inspiring !
Good stuff Matt, I DM you another deck for your collection LOL
ОтветитьAnother Awsome vid! You will be at 1k subbs before you know it!
