smartest of Henry's wives .
ОтветитьI think she was quite sweet kind and very smart and I enjoyed learning about her German background culture I think it3 shaped her to be quite a lady BUT oh so strong
ОтветитьVery good
ОтветитьAnne learned from here mother Maria how to act as a strong and independent woman. Maria was the only daughter of duke Wilhelm of Jülich-Berg. He had declared his daughter to be his female heir and duchess of Jülich and Berg and countess of Ravensberg. She managed to keep this role against the will of emperor Friedrich III. who had promised Albrecht of Sachsen to become to new duke of Jülich-Berg. Only a tough woman could resist the emperor during that time especially in Marias case as the territories of her father were an important part of the Holy Roman Empire and had a strong and modern economy i. e. the iron and steel industry.
ОтветитьMy favorite!
Ответить8uu
ОтветитьI think she's my favorite just because she went with the tide and ended up with a good life against a tyrant.
ОтветитьI think Henry almost certainly got salty about Anne when he tried to pull his crap that the English all played along with, but she didn't know how to act. He got embarrassed I'm sure.
ОтветитьShe was a calm, quiet and young queen. A great documentary.
ОтветитьBtw i read Daughter Her from Brother merried again with King ..
ОтветитьHope someday Anne of cleaves have one movie like Elizabeth I , Anne B or Catherine of Aragon .. her story really uniq ..
And Joss stone really good on The tudours
She dodged that bullet of signing the annulment to henry plus ££££ Smart lady .
ОтветитьLook at Germany being all feminist before it was even Germany.
ОтветитьI admire Anne very much. Her education and the status given to women in her home country may have influenced her acceptance of Henry's rejection. She was probably one of his smartest wives. I think when she spoke about the burden Kathrine was taking on, she could have been referring to the king's health, weight, and sour personality. I can't imagine she would really want to remarry him and lose her freedom. Not a "catty" remark. thank-you for this insight into her life
Ответить😊❤😊❤😊❤😊
ОтветитьThis is interesting 😊
ОтветитьAnna probably felt sorry for Katherine Parr, who had every reason to fear that she might end up being executed
ОтветитьThank you very much for this! Anne of Cleves is my favorite of Henry's wives. She was one smart lady! I'm always sorry to see history call her ugly. I highly doubt that. And her looks are irrelevant anyway, when the rest of her charms are piled up. What a treasure she was!
ОтветитьI think she was both a wonderful and clever woman! She had her head well screwed on (no pun intended) and survived where others did not...
ОтветитьDon't like the look of Anna's mother; she looks like that awful Irma Von Wotsit from during the Second World War!
ОтветитьFrom everything I've read for 60 years I think King Henry liked small, very petite women where Anne of Cleves was not
ОтветитьI'm glad to know I'm not the only one semi-obsessed with this period of history.❤
ОтветитьI agree that she did well in material terms, but she suffered many humiliations, which must have hurt her. I think she must have been lonely, living out her life in a foreign country.
ОтветитьIt really bothers me that you keep calling her Anna.
ОтветитьHe was such a jerk to his wives
ОтветитьDesperate for a spare yet picky. Make it make sense! Just close your eyes and think of England bro😅
ОтветитьHow do I get this guy, Gareth, to narrate my life ?!?
ОтветитьThey invested power in women??... but... but that can't be right because we're constantly told women were treated as third-class citizens in the past...
ОтветитьAnne and Henry's divorce was really a sign that the peak of his tyranny had started
ОтветитьShe spent the least time with a manchild that was Hanry, she was well off for the rest of her life, and she was well respected. She Anne had the best possible outcome one could have had given all the circumstances.
ОтветитьI think Henry ĺied when he claimed she was "UGLY".
Cromwell and Hans Holbein wouldn't have lied about her looks or tried to pass her off as being beautiful when she wasn't because they had too much to lose.
Contemporary accounts from courtiers said she was pleasant looking but she wasn't the Tudor idea of beauty because she was tall voluptuous and had a slightly swarthy complexion when the Tudor ideal was a porcelain white complexion and flat-chested.
Дякую каналу за фільм і прекрасні картини. Анні пощастило, вона єдина вціліла серед дружин Генріха. Батько Анни звав її "Білим соколом"
ОтветитьThanks for the upload!
ОтветитьI think Anna is the prettiest of the wives! I think her mom and sisters are as well. Enlightening to know Germans passed down their lands to women and thought them more worthy of education.
ОтветитьAnne secured the bag
ОтветитьI think by this time in his life the King was unable to “perform as necessary to impregnate his wife” and was just looking for excuses to blame Anne, and those who surrounded him knew better than to challenge him or suggest HE had any kind of problem! I can’t believe a woman who grew up on Estates with farm animals, and who did domestic chores in kitchens that surely would have had dogs and cats, did not understand the basic “rules of nature” for what needed to occur to produce offspring. And all the time she spent in the company of her mother, sisters and other women every morning?! I believe she knew exactly the extent of what needed to happen in the marriage bed, but was smart enough to not give the ladies in the English Court anything to gossip about. Or worse, have word get back to the King that she was insinuating he wasn’t performing his responsibilities as a husband.
ОтветитьWell it's just as well he ended that marriage cause he would never have been happy. The biggest sign was the insults and embarrassment that occurred when they first met
ОтветитьI was based at RAF Laarbruck in the late 70s and visited Kleve quite often, they didn’t seem to celebrate Ann of Cleves very much at the time.
ОтветитьWhere Anna's concerned, I believe Henry was the lucky one. One false move could have cost him a war.
ОтветитьThe only one of Henry's wives who probably didn't hate hate him
ОтветитьUnless Jane Boleyn spoke German she could not have conversed with Anna of Cleves regarding her nighttime experiences with the king. Anna, not having a mother to explain the sexual situations a husband and a wife experience in their marital bed may only have had brief conversations about the act with her married sister. Having learned of conversations and descriptions of Anna when she was approached by the stranger and their subsequent meals together when Henry stayed nearby as well as the fact that Henry's description of his repulsion comes long after the encounter and only after he required an annulment makes his description questionable. Henry went to very extreme means to get rid of wives. Making up stories is just a mild method to rid himself of his fourth wife. I greatly admire this young lady's ability to keep her head and still be accepted at court after her brief marriage to HenryVIII.
ОтветитьI wanna see every 500 times that look chose to write me is that look chose the latter everybody on the face of the world have access advertently Ryman I want to see it anywhere
ОтветитьAnne was very indifferent to her living situations, she didn't seem to have strong opinions and was able to adapt herself to what was going on around her, which I am sure was very helpful. I do however feel she was a little bit more like Jane and Catherine Parr in the sense that submissiveness was rewarded when it came to Henry.
ОтветитьAnna definitely seems the most interesting! Had Henry given her a chance, with her knowledge of ruling from her mother, might have made him an extra fortune. However, as the English viewed women as subservient, and Henry’s famous temper, her knowledge of ruling might have also gotten her killed. Who knows!
ОтветитьAnne of cleves was not the great flanders mare that henry viii described her as. At this point henry viii was getting up in years, very overweight (he weighed 28 stone which is around 400 pounds) and could no longer have sexual relations. So I believe that him claiming that Anne was ugly and he could not have sex with her because of it was simply ridiculous. At this point in his life he was impotent. Again, Anne of Cleves was NOT ugly. That to me was just simply an insult to the royal princess of Cleves. I mean she was the only princess in Europe that decided to marry Henry VIII. Everyone else turned him down as a marriage partner because of his past mistreatment of his previous wives. Henry viii to me should have been greatful 🙏 that anyone would want to marry him at this time in history. I mean it would have taken a brave and bold woman to be Henry's wife.
ОтветитьSmart girl she played her cards well.
ОтветитьI think she was my favorite of all the wives.
Ответитьj'apprécie énormément de voir la traduction en Français !
ОтветитьAnna's education was a practical one per what the German societal levels followed. I think that they were very smart about that. If you are too above it all, then you don't know what's going on at the lower levels. That can be a problem. I think that Anna was one smart cookie. Just because you don't know how to speak several languages, play an instrument, sing or read classics, does not make a person stupid. For that time, she was educated plenty in her cultural background.
