Good morning. I've noticed that you use a lot of Australian Timber Oil. I've got a new 6 foot x 12 foot trailer and thought that would be a good product to use on the deck boards. What do you think?
ОтветитьRichard to make your homemade weather head water tight, take the side wall of an old tire and cut 2 circles that fit tight inside of the PVC pipe fittings, and use a little black silicon to make it water tight. Punch holes for the wires to pass through and use a little silicon around the wires or electrical grease. With the conduit open to the open air you will have condensation forming in the underground portion if you have air flow, and you know from the day of Ma Bell how the fought condensation in the underground phone closets. in computer networking we even fought condensation on underground conduits between buildings.
Also with a pipe open Wasp, Yellow Jackets, Mud dauber and Honey Bees will use it as an access into the Juice the Juice Shack.
You need those nice Kobalt gloves on.

ОтветитьAnother great video!!!! I'm excited to see that first light go on!!!! Also the hand made lights for your walls are Beautiful, how creative. God Bless My Friend!!!!
ОтветитьWon't be long now till you get to start flipping switches off and on. It's going to be so nice for you to get that phase completed. It will be so cool to know you won't be paying for the power when you turn on the light. Looks great Richard, thanks for sharing with us. Glad they are getting more done on Jennifer's new house. Stay safe and Have a Blessed Thanksgiving with the families. Fred. Tell them all hello from us.

ОтветитьHey Brother, nice look'n sub panel. Bringing in a good electrician was a smart move. As a fellow hand with over 30 yrs as a commercial/industrial/maintenance electrician, he gets my vote for quality!
You truly have a great bunch of friends with a ton of experience, and I am really enjoying watching your homestead evolve to be one of the best on Utube!!!
That takes me back 35 years ago when I was a resident electrician ..
ОтветитьNo need to mess up a bowl, I've done that a few times myself. Did you realize the solar panels would be so time consuming to install , meaning the complex?
ОтветитьHey man..... your retired and have time on your hands as you work your own schedule and dance to your own beat. Nothing wrong with eliminating or reducing your footprint and who in their right mind doesn't want cheaper bills. I wish I would have retired in Tennessee as most of my family lives there. I retired in the upper lower peninsula of Michigan and I'm getting tired of the cold winters and snow ( shoveling )
ОтветитьGreat work Richard. Just a note about finishing electrical work I learned from my father. No one ever sees all the great work behind the panels just notices the little things, like all the electrical outlet plate screws...all being lined up and down the same. if you take that much care the entire job should be done with professionalism.
ОтветитьLooks great 👍. How Holliday 🌲🌲🌲🌲
ОтветитьYou might want to stuff steel wool around the entry point of your wires to the PVC cable run to your house. Ill keep small animals and insects out of the conduit and more importantly out of your home. Imagin honey bees using the wire chase into your house to setup a hive behind your wall board.
ОтветитьThings are coming together. Hope y’all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoyed watching
ОтветитьGood job, Richard.
ОтветитьGreat job!!!
Ответитьhi, you're in front of the camera so we can't see what you're doing
ОтветитьRefreshing to see someone that understands the importance of proper bonding/grounding.
ОтветитьWatch what you are grounding versus bonding in your panels.
Ответить👍🇸🇪
ОтветитьKeep us up to date about your girl¯house
Ответить🇳🇴👍👍
ОтветитьThe hardest part to installing plugs and switches is stuffing the wires back in the box😂
Ответить👍👍👍
ОтветитьBuen trabajo
Un saludo desde Barcelona España
you will need some type of heating for the Juice shack.. check out the diesel heaters on the vevo web sight inexpensive and they do a great job. they only come with a 1.3 gallon fuel tank but you can add an auxiliary tank so you don't have to maintain it so often
ОтветитьRichard einfach super gemacht einfach Spitze Danke Gruss aus Germany und bleibt gesund 1👏🏻👍🏻😄👌🙋♂️🇩🇪🙂🤗👋
ОтветитьAnother good video my friend keep up the great work and may God’s blessings be upon you and your family…….🙏🏻🙏🏻🤓
ОтветитьLooks like some duct putty is needed to plug your weather head, don't want any critters eating your insulation. Jealous of your solar setup!
ОтветитьGood progress with the cabin wiring. Suggestion Richard: Wrap all your switch and socket terminals with electrical tape. Why? This simple step might just prevent any possible short circuits or damage caused by a power surge or accidental touching of contacts after long usage. This was suggested to me by an Electrician friend so all mine are done this way.
ОтветитьI;ve heard of water heaters but not hot water heaters , if the water was hot you wouldn't need a heater. hahahahaha
ОтветитьNeed vintage lanterns at "The Juice Shack" for outside
Fix with LED's blue & green for Christmas lights. Looking Fabulous!
Very nice Richard and it looks great as well. Love the way you think things out and plan accordingly.
ОтветитьGreat electrical informational video Richard
ОтветитьHi Tom , I love your vlog . Tom just as a thought , that 2 inch white pipe that you just put in that I think holds the main power wires in it ,Tom heaven forbid if mice did get in you don't think you should reduce the top of the pipe down to the thickness of the two wires just incase , I could be over thinking it tom and that is just my thoughts , keep up the great vlogs and I can not wait for more on Jennifer's new home , THANKS TOM .
ОтветитьI watched this already did not leave one a comment today! I just sent off my bills and had enough to pay them. My gas bill was larger than what I sent to one. Enjoy it! I used to not like going to my hardward store in town Lowes. Everything is way over priced. Yet, if I need it then it has to be gotton. i had only cold water a while back. Had to replace the hot water tank, the lines and had to get fittings and stuff. Before I knew it it was $800.00 and I still had to put it all together. My one neighbor took me to the hardware store to get the stuff at and he did not charge me for the ride. Does Smokey help one out with the work or just when he needs to eat? I miss my Miss Bestey, she stayed right by my side, did not let me get much done either. She wanted some attention. I got her about five years old or so. She got older quickly on me and had to go to the pound her hip was going out on her. She gave me a face when she was going in. I still miss her a lot. I like the grounding of the solor pannels and ends of wires inside being put where they go and the breakers. My dad shocked me a few good times when I was smaller and I to this day will respect electricity. At work I was changing up a big fuse in a metal cutting machine with an insulated tool, yet, my finger touched the box, and I got lit up well. Everything that I do is one thing at a time too. Each day I pick about three things that I would like to do. Prayer and meditation is on that list. Prayer to ask God to help me out for this day, then at night thank him for another day. And inbetween when needed to. Eating on time is a biggie for me too. I will get very sick if I forget to eat. Then I have other goals to read so many pages of my dailey readers and so on. The branches from the Pin Oak tree are slowly drying out. I got the bark off ok. When they dry some more I will sand them some and coat them with oil. Thanks for the update on Jennifer's house build, was wondering what was going on. I would still be broke if I had to purchase the branches from my tree from the hardware store. Some is getting all that money. The branches are losing weight a little at a time. I just enjoy watching one work. It helps me out, when I have to do something similar. My dad drank and he fought with my mom, when I was before eight years old. They fought everynight after all five kids were bathed and in our beds. We were could hear mom and dad fighting in our room just above their room in a cape code house at 600 Bertha Ave in Akron Ohio . The house is still there and they wanted $65,000 for it. Mom and dad got divorced when I was eight. I recall all the tears too. The big tears. The broken heart and all. Then we moved into the projects at Norton Homes in Barberton, Ohio. We have three different chicken houses to choose our dinners at. Belgrade gardens, Hopician gardens, and white house chicken. Five pices of chicken, a good helping of french fries and cole slaw and some hot sause with rice to dip the fries into and eat. Two pices of bread. Good to me. When I stayed at my gradmas house me and grandpa when to work building two garages out of blocks. I mixed up the mud and carried everything to him while he was on the scaffolding. I carried two blocks in each arm then too. Cannot do this today. So I get an idea about buildings and that they can be made. I got a small solar pannel 125 what system for me to practice on putting it together. They charge up the deep cell marine batterys for me. I have a cb, two six volt lights on it. I did get me some modern tools to work with to build stuff with too. I got each one one at a time. The hard way yet I got them. I have two gennerators, two air compressors, nails guns, framing hammer, nails. Air hoses. Still have the two machinist boxes, the cut off saw, angle grinder, router, ect. I have an new set of craftsmans wrenches still in the box. HOpe the ratcoons did not leave a mess on them. The ratcoons had two babies so far. They probably will have more. I wont be able to live here anymore after this winter. The house is just to bad. Big holes in the roof, ceilings are coming down, walls are unplastered. Framing is getting wet and so on. Yet, I still take it all in one day at a time. Paul in Ohio.
ОтветитьNice neat job sir on your wiring and grounding. Looking forward to you turning on the first lighting.
ОтветитьSorry to hear about your friend not being well. Hope he’s on the mend soon. I do pretty much everything here on my own so I know what that’s like. It will probably be an interesting challenge to work through hooking all that up. Your getting so close!
ОтветитьChecking in with SM outpost Richard and Jennifer support them on there journey Don't be Dumb hit the Thumb for them.
ОтветитьHallo Richard, gibt es eigentlich etwas, was du nicht kannst? Das ist ja unglaublich was du alles machst Du bist sehr umsichtig und vorrausplanend. Find ich ganz toll. Liebe Grüße aus Germany
Ответитьeverywhere a staple in the ground wire is a place lighting can be directed into the wood and not the short to ground you thing it would be as the staple acts a choke to the flow of current thru the wire. would suggest that you do some lighting ground research as the better ways to run you grounding wires.
