Anyway, long story short , the man asked once he graduated if he was going back to help his community. His answer was, why is my community my problem.

I remember hearing this way back when it was done and after hearing it I was having to hide, because tough guys didn't cry back then. Right, guess I wasn't tough as I thought I was.

Actually, Mac Davis wrote that song and he was one of the greatest song writers of all time. But nobody's ever done it like Elvis did it. And, by the way, your son is going to be just fine. He's got a great Dad on his side.

First time hearing this myself. That song hit hard, and it hits harder that a white man sang about it. In this day and age, people might say that Elvis was being racist, but I didn't get that vibe in his voice. I heard a human being singing out of pain and empathy.

Like Karol said, NEVER apologize for showing your emotions. Be emotional, and let your children see that it’s OK for a man to be emotional. Men are emotional too, but they are conditioned to hide and suppress them, and that is ultimately destructive to their relationships, especially marriages. The more you are in touch with your emotions as a man, the easier it will be to understand what people are going through, because emotions are the “voice” of the human spirit.

Loved your reaction, brother. Even though I didn’t grow up in the ghetto, my heart aches for those that are living it. By you showing your heart, it greatly ministered to me, and caused me to really feel where you were coming from. That’s the power of transparency. People also dont realize that all nationalities have ghettos. It not just thr blacks but people tend to "stigmatize" the ghetto with the black nationality

I am a white woman and I come from the ghetto. It's not just the black community. This video hits home to a lot of us. I've seen it exactly like he sings it.

There's more of us that understand than you think. People need to care about what happens to another person. Color shouldn't matter when it comes to life or death. Elvis seen what was happening even back then. NO child or mother should have to go through that.
