I'd add "Chopping Mall" and "Night of the Comet" to this list. Both star the younger actress from "Night of the Comet".

I am trying to find the title of a horror movie that I saw a long time ago. It may have been from the 70's or 80's. The main character was Deaf/Hearing Impaired and looked kinda like Herman Andrew Stevens from the Fury, but not sure. He gets an operation to help his hearing and as a result unlocks supernatural abilities. The movie may even have Burgess Meredith in it. Any ideas?

I don't feel like people mention that "Pieces" has a completely random scene involving a character's "kung fu professor" showing up while the whodunit is going on.

Don't know if it qualifies as a hidden gem slasher, but one of my favorites of the 80's is Sleepaway Camp. That ending reveal made me jump. The other (unsure if it was ever in theatres) is the scarecrow. Watched it on a Friday night, had nightmares for a week and the preceeded to watch it again the next Friday. Great movie

These are not “Hidden Gems” Arrow and 88films have released the vast majority of them if not all. Perhaps a better title for the film would be 10 great lesser known slashers

It is impossible to properly clean a gun while it was loaded, so either the kid did a terrible job on the birthday present or the kill was intentional.

Thank you for this list. People are often found in the comments of your videos complaining that you run through the same common list of movies, or that you only do recent movies...this list combats both of those complaints & does so in spades, producing a nice list of gems.

Slaughter High has to be one of the most underrated slashers out there. The Beer can chug scene alone is worth watching and could serve as a messed up but funny anti drinking psa.

Terror Train > Halloween all of the characters are way more memorable and multidimensional. The kills have a great tense pace and more of a payoff. Lastly, Terror Train has Copperfield AND Vanity. Nuff said

I’m sure it’s a slasher.

I’m glad someone acknowledged Black Christmas was the OG slasher film. While Psycho, Peeping Tom, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (which came out the same year), and various Giallos had elements in common, Black Christmas was the first movie that truly and unambiguously has enough elements to truly qualify. It may not fully show the killer at any point, which is unusual in the genre, but it was the first movie to distill the essential elements of the genre like killer POV shots, body count, young people drinking and being irresponsible, and bonus points for a holiday setting, which is pretty ubiquitous, although not mandatory, in the genre. The fact that you only ever see the killer’s eye and shadowed form is a bit more Giallo, but Halloween essentially introduced that last element, which it had in common with Texas Chainsaw Massacre and some Giallos. Point being, I’m glad the film that really started the genre is getting credit here, because it is excellent.
