In that one inch gap between the floor and walls do you fill it with anything like thinset mortar or silicone?
ОтветитьGood video, my boy. Confirmed a lot of what I’ve learned to date.
ОтветитьQuestion, what if Laticrete pan system says to go all the to floor and use their silicone/adhesive ?
ОтветитьLove how you explain and your humor made it very pleasant
ОтветитьYou’re the first person to explain what goes on that crack when you don’t drop the board to the pan.
ОтветитьThis guy has it right, in fact I would make that gap bigger. But make sure your floor is all the way to the edges, no gaps.
ОтветитьThank you for the video. You just made realize that my tile guy has been doing everything wrong. I guess is time for DIY from now on.
Ответитьwith proper PRESLOPE all this is a moot point....
ОтветитьThank you so much for informative video !
Most of the walls are not flat so Did you have to level your wall before you attach the backer board to the studs?
Is half inch gap between the backer board and the floor enough to avoid the water wick up to the board after laying the tiles?
Buddy I’m doing my basement right now in a new build. I’m at the shower now. Your video explained the reasoning behind lifting the cement board up. I was in a argument with a contractor who has done shower tiling for years and he kept telling me I needed to go to bottom. I sent him this video lol
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьAt the bottom of the backerboard, how do you prevent the water from going under the edges of the boards to prevent it from being wet and swelling up? If the board is resting on the edge/lip of the tub and a person is taking a bath and splashing and water running on the edges, or water vapor dripping downward, eventually the moisture will go under the edges of the board and deteriorate the board.
Ответитьimpact drill demo sounded like you were just stripping the screw head
ОтветитьNice work. Great videos. It may be in another video, but with the 1/2 to 1" gap at the bottom, how far down do you run the wall tile? For the shower liner do you shim the backer board above the liner so it does not kick out? Thanks
ОтветитьGreat video, can you secure the cement board at the bottom by screwing into the bottom sill plate to avoid movement and the tiles cracking?
ОтветитьThank you for this video, I am just learning it. I purchased the Standard Shower Kit SSK-401"GOOF Proof Shower" and it has the 1. Pre-Pitch Kit STD-201 2. Quick Pitch QPK-101 3. Kirb-Perfect KP-543. The Kirb-Perfect shower curb is a stay-in-place plastic form for building perfect shower curbs. Why did you use the backer board to form the shower curb walls instead of the plastic Kirb-Perfect kit?
ОтветитьExtra tip, when you want to cut circles in things it'd be better to drill a hole in the centre of the circle (or anywhere within the area of the circle) and then cut out from there with the jigsaw. That way you'd get a circle rather than a circle with a blip. Makes no difference here though.
ОтветитьThx! 👍
ОтветитьI don't even use a shower pan anymore. Red Guard is it.
ОтветитьWhat if the backer board is being fitted to a plasterboard or brick wall. I assume those backer board screws would need raw plugs?
ОтветитьI forgot to mesh tape all joints and just applied thinset... Is it okay to leave like that???
ОтветитьDo you have to put dry wall in behind the shower?
ОтветитьAwesome vid, thanks!
ОтветитьGood camera work, I watched some star tile vids, his camera was all over the place, made it difficult to see what he was trying to demonstrate, your camera perspective was truly perfect, wide shot, with some closeups when useful! Truly appreciate your video.👍👍
ОтветитьExcellent video. Thanks
ОтветитьThanks for the video. I'd watched a bunch of videos before yours showed up in my suggestions and I'd already seen all your recommendations, I feel confident now. Great illustration on the wicking effect, I can't understand how a pro would make that mistake will so much info out there
ОтветитьWhat if the studs arnt level, how do u make sure the backer board is level?? Thx!
ОтветитьGreat video! Thanks bro for the Bong! Bong! Bong! Tips!
ОтветитьMan I wish I knew where that stud was....LOL...Informative video good job!
ОтветитьThat gap makes sense, BUT isn't that gap just going to be filled with thinest? wont the thinset just wick the water up to the board anyway?
ОтветитьGreat job!
Ответитьcan you drywall to the floor, membrane, pour floor, then backer board?
Ответитьwhats better redgard vs aqua defense
ОтветитьThere are just as good alternatives than red guard
ОтветитьI put those screws in backer board with my regular drill with no problem at all..
ОтветитьPLEASE STOP all these pro democrat commercials. At least put both sides up. Stop being a pro-pervert
ОтветитьExcellent video. Do you use the vinyl PVC liner and Red Guard? Thank you for the tips.
ОтветитьEXCELLENT!!! I've Seen dozens n dozens of shower videos. You did a Great Job all around!
ОтветитьNice video . What if I'm installing backer board to the shower floor that already has tile on it, how much space do I leave, same as you did on this video?
ОтветитьBANG BANG
ОтветитьBOOM BOOM
ОтветитьDoes the red guard go on the shower floor also or just the walls?
Ответить-hey mr. expert. do you think it would have been better to use construction adhesive on the studs before you installed the duraboard panels? Adhesive makes a far better and broader application.
ОтветитьSo how are you suppose to fill the gaps between the floor and the wall? thinset or quick set cement? or do you recommend slide the floor tiles under the backer board?
Ответитьcut the backer with a grinder and masonry blade.
ОтветитьBoom boom boom
ОтветитьWould an Impact drill work if I dont have a hammer drill?
ОтветитьWhy are we still putting cement sponges under tile?
ОтветитьSo you just fill the 'gap' with thinset?
ОтветитьRed guard goes all the way
