How Does a DOL Starter Control a Motor?

A DOL starter has the advantage of being able to provide simple, local, adjustable overload protection to a motor.

But what are the other advantages of using one and how can it help us to comply with the wiring regulations?

In this video Joe Robinson explains how the internal wiring of a DOL starter can achieve a circuit that latches the motor on but will also leave it in a safe condition if the motor loses power and then gets re-energised.
