How To Properly Jump a Dirt Bike - 3 Basic Techniques

First time j tried to jump my 2005 Yz85 I had it 4th pinned first time jumping on a bike that size, I forgot to stand up which made my helmet shift and I couldn't see anything. My silencer fell off, so did my right number plate, list a bolt so you could move the gas tank and bend the front rim. I jumped my buddies ditch 4th pinned. I apparently went too slow, but I'll do this next time I send it over there again. Maybe 5th half throttle😅

I wish I watched this before trying my first MX track today. The back end kept coming up on me so I figured I needed more throttle through the jump. Had to pop my shoulder back in place on the bottom of the jump....

My best advise to learning any type of jump style is to be in one gear higher so the throttle is not sharp. If you’re doing 20 in 2nd gear then just do 20 in 3rd gear allowing the motor to not be as aggressive. Now here’s my best advise and I’m not even gonna charge you for it. Take only one thing you want to learn and learn it. If it’s a jump then only practice that jump for a month or hitting the jump about 500 times. You may feel you have it mastered after doing it 100 times and then get bored but that’s what you want. It will force you to concentrate even more. You may go back the following day or week and then feel like you’re not doing it right. This is normal and the reason you need to keep practicing over and over again till you do it the right way every single time without having to think about it

I know how to jump small motorcycles but with more powerful bikes I tend to air wheelie a lot
Idk if im hitting the face of the jump in a gear thats too high or what
My bike has 6 gears and they are very short and torqy which make me often really end up in the high end rpms after a corner heading to a jump

I’m really struggling to jump my bike I’m fearful of looping out and every time I do try to jump the bike I don’t get any air I let off before hitting the jump my feet knock it out a gear and I feel stiff and heavy when I try to jump the bike but I will keep trying and figure it out

So twist throtle all the way before hitting the jump then let out right as you hit the jump let go of the grips grab the back tire and flip the bike and land back tire way far back
