I was excited to learn that they are in development of Sims 5 but became instantly disappointed when it said it can also play on your phone. Mobile games are basically selling out greed factories that debase the game. I fear it will be worse than Sims 4. Sigh!

I just don't play 4 ever. It's just terrible. And all the DLCs and stuff equals up to around a good $1,000. Fuck that~
I'll stick with 2&3, my beloveds <3

I think the sims was better when it was driven by a creative vision, not how to turn a physical deformity into a marketing gimmick.

With the sims 1 to 2 you could really feel that they wanted to give you the best experience they could while crafting this amazing town and trying to give lore to the characters, then the sims 3 cranked that up 10x and while the monetization stuff was scummy they still had that passion and wanted to give players an experience. Then the sims 4 came out and the npcs look like blobs who came straight out of a randomize button, no more interesting characters and everything just feels artificially designed as this setpiece rather than peeking into another world.

Everything about the unique sim world got abandoned in favor of releasing a $50 expansion that only adds 20 new items and disguising their scummy business practices behind using peoples physical or mental abnormalities to shield them from criticism.

It's just soulless.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw the sims starwars thing and thought "wait wtf?"

Like it's not out of the ordinary for the sims to have pop culture stuff in their games, with entire expansions being based around certain aspects of real life like college, or casinos, but the starwars one just felt like one big ad.

EA doesn't care at all and I'm just realising it. Kit for pets and cats must have been a free content added on the pack/extension what ever they wanna call it at this point... It is just obvious. Nahaha just found rencently on epic free kit for cats and dogs and yup it is useless, i though i was gonna have at least 1 one dog and one cat but hey that was my bad & items/clothes... really poor... anyways buut soo what is the point? Make you wanna buy the extension/pack for cat&dogs ofc! So imo they will keep doing so because they are just money eater... acting dumb but being clever. Kits are the most useless and poorly content from the sims I've ever seen. They probably went "Here's the trick sometimes we make it free it didnt cost use much.. and so it pushes them more to buy as you can't play use part of without... And if people buy it regardless is even worth it for us" ! We forgot many time the "Marketing" side of game that they are also or mostly working on... since all i can see it that they aren't as passionate as we are for games. 🌹
Hope you guys got the kits for free tho check on epic or ea💖

I will never understand the balls of selling games with a price and then make it free for everyone a few years later. The audacity... To me it looked like they have planned to make it free as there are so many +content/dlc that are and will probably keep coming out. 🌷

All I have to say is that Sims 5 has to knock it out of the park. If they keep trying to pull the greedy bullshit they've become famous for, they're going to get absolutely destroyed by projects like "Paralives" and "Life By You". Imagine being able to buy a full game in one package, without being nickel-and-dimed for every basic feature. Imagine if expansions actually expanded the game, instead of filling out features that should have been in the base game but were cut and sold back to players by greedy executives. That shit's not going to fly when there's legitimate competition.

I think that anything that got added in a previous game as DLC should either be removed and never added to the next game, or added in for free in the next one. In breath of the wild you could get DLC that gave you stuff like warp pads that let you warm from any location you set it to, and in their next installment tears of the kingdom, they gave it to you free in the base game itself.

The fact that the sims took something that was in the other game, removed it, then sold it to you in a worse state for the same price was probably my disillusion with the series. If they took out pets and never added them in or re-added them in a free dlc in their next installment, that would've been fine, but they had to be greedy.

Despite sims 3 being my favorite game in the series, they still did that as well which was something I really disliked in that game as well, but the sims 3 was my first sims game and nothing in it without any DLC gave me the feeling that I was missing out on anything, but in the sims 4 you could really tell that there were things meant to be in the game that weren't added in for the sake of making it DLC later.

My first Sims in Sims 4 were the Sim i made to actually play and 7 grannys i made to have more money at the start (I didn't know how to acces the cheat menue in this one yet). Which i then murdered (by trapping them in the besement since there were no pools to drown them in yet ofc) because they didn't die of old age quick enough for me. My Sim then started romances with as many other Sims as possible, which is how i found out that a Sim having unprotected woo hoo multiple times (with different sims in this case) before taking the pregnancy test heightens the chance to have twins - or in my case triplets - at least in the past.

They weren't triples for long tho, because on their second birthday (were they became teenagers) one of the three pissed herself so often, due to some bug making her not being able to reach the toilet (an issue thst somehow only happened sporadically despite the furniture not being moved around and being spaced far enough apart), that she died from embarassment without me noticing at first. I only realized that something was wrong when i realized that one of the three was missing from the household and i couldn't find her on the lot anymore. Her urn/headstone was bugged out, too, and only became visible/spawned later after rearranging funiture, so I only could be sure that she actually had died (and not the game just bugging out and deleting a Sim during aging up or something) when her ghost showed up.

So, peak Sims 4 experience.

As a wee little kid i remember saving up for the 2 sims 3 dlcs i own, pouring hours upon hours of my time into the game (amounting to a current 204 hrs) and i oftentimes didnt even engage with the DLC i bought, content with the base game feast laid before me.
Now, when the sims 4 base game became free, i downloaded it in hopes of feeling that excitement again, (as i am rather disengaged from the internet common culture) only to be disappointed in less than 10 minutes after leaving CAS.
My computre (high end btw) was huffing and puffing and i just sat trying to convince my sim to get a job.

Needless to say, i have only 1 hour in the sims 4. EA flopped hard & i can only hope simmers get the courage to boycott sims 5 if EA trys to pull the same (or worse) crap on them.

I got it at the start of the year for free and love it but free roam would be nice . I wouldn't mind pets and weather or get to work . I cant have unlimited sims so more places to build is mute . Mods and cc is great with a massive community ( game looks pretty sweet now😊 ) . Cheats are good to , like debug if you don't do mods . I don't think I will add any packs as it takes long enough to load . All good for free and hours of entertainment .

Then they added a bunch of stuff to base game, so I started playing again. And I was able to create a more accurate me. Now if only I could make my sim shorter, that would be the ultimate sims game.

So far I've liked it a lot but I must confess I've had to pirate some dlc cause I do see how it would get very dull after not too long. Pretty much the edge of having to manage my vampire sim daylight activities properly is the only thing that keeps me engaged besides the building part

God I remember playing the create a Sims demo and thinking 'I don't like the sims design... I'll bet they had to make the sims more simple because the gameplay is soooooo much more complex.' it reminds me of when the Star Wars Prequels first came out and Star Wars fans tried so hard to convince themselves and others that the prequels were good really but they weren't and the sims 4 is the same we can try to convince ourselves but it's not good I'm looking forward to the companies trying to take Maxis's crown I'm looking at you Paralives and Inzoi.

I would not mind paying 250 dollar, no even 300 dollar for a truly solid, game. Hell, maybe I could even go a little higher. However I want the full game. I also need my game to be mine, and for me to be able to play it without internet. I do internet stuff on this computer. However I really want my gaming as well as work to happen on another computer that is just not online at all.
I also need the people making and selling the game not to PISS ON ME! If a company runs a manure spreader around fans of its product, spraying waste all over them. It makes the idea of buying the game a big, tough pill to swallow.

I even wonder if perhaps some of this stuff should be strait up against the law. At some point a company should possibly be held to a higher standard.

When the Sims 4 went free to play on Steam I got it on Steam so I could keep to my "all games on one platform" rule, glad I didn't buy any of the expansions on Origin beforehand. I wasn't paying again for a game I already had, and considering the amount of money you need to spent to get the "complete" Sims 4 experience its a completely fair change that I support, because the base game doesn't really provide much without the expansions anyway.

I downloaded Sims 4 after hearing it became free(having only played Sims 3 before). Immediately became frustrated. It seemed like every time I left my sims a second of independence they were quitting the jobs they requested in the first place and picking fights with their significant others out of nowhere. The game was also buggy to the point my sims got random permanent negative moodlets. I had to keep the cheat box open just to make the game playable. I remember one Sim in particular who become afraid of the dark(after no bad interactions) to the point she was terrified of leaving the house even during the day and even scared when she was inside a well lit room at night. It did not encourage me to buy the expansion packs.

new player here.

i dont really buy anything ever so i knew genuinely nothing about sims. i just found out it was free at some point, got curious, and started playing.

while it is deeply, deeply annoying that 'seasons' costs money, i honestly feel bad complaining because i am not someone who paid for it. i do feel bad for anyone who did pay for it and also have to deal with the same shit, but the reason you dont hear a lot from me, a person who played it because it was free, was because i got it for free. i am not a veteran player, so i've never put money into this franchise and by extention never felt i had much of a right to complain. i do still play it, but it doesnt bother me much since it's free so i dont feel like im losing an investment. maybe losing some free time, but the game is still fairly entertaining so i dont think that's fair to say. it doesn't feel like a waste, so i dont care much to complain and dont really think i have the right to.

Mind you, journey to batuu was on the bottom of like a majority of simmers lists but EA needed to get that last bit of use of star wars before it got yanked out of their greedy hands so they just said " screw what the players want! ". Oh yeah and let's not forget that when they did their little stream for my wedding stories they actually had to END THE STREAM EARLY BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT GET THE DAMN PACK TO WORK!!!! I remember the launch of sims 4 to some degree. So I was around 16 ish and no job so I had to rely on my chore money. I think I made $35 every 2 weeks and the sims 4 was very expensive then. I wasnt interested in it at first so I didn't bother to save. When I finally got it, I wasn't all that bothered by some of the missing features. Open world is great but my computer lagged and was basically useless when playing sims 3. Once I got so many packs, my 1 hour of alloted game time was spent in loading screens. Note things aren't much different now, but I still prefer the less laggy trouble I had with 4 in regards to that. I was upset by the idea that pools or toddlers might be locked behind a purchase, but given that never happened I'm kinda happy with what we eventually got. I don't mind delays in release because I prefer getting quality game products that actually function. I absolutely hate the sims 4 on PC because when it first came out you were required to have wifi in order to start the ea app, even if you had a disc. Absolutely ridiculous. My family couldn't afford internet so we had a cheap little Hotspot with 5 gbs a month for 4 people to use, and I wasn't allowed to use it for non school reasons during the week all year. Eventually I realized I couldn't afford to keep a PC that could run the sims so I quit for a year or two, also because I found the content lacking at this point. But they released it on Xbox and ps4 and I suddenly could join the band once again and have enjoyed my experience much more. I do have some negative thoughts about it being difficult to work with but overall still satisfied with the game. I now have a steam deck which allows me to play sims on the go and now I am privy to the issues that PC users face which is that the app used to launch it frequently breaks down and doesn't seem to like the steam deck. The $100 I spent on packs were absolutely wasted which also made me feel ridiculous because I had a previous account that I can no longer access. Sorry for the rant but I see this game as one of my favorites and I am so sad to be pulling away from the franchise in general.

I picked up Sims 4 during the start of quaranting because it was free and I had nothing better to do. I got bored of it pretty fast but funnily enough I picked it up again recently because I got covid and am once again stuck in quarantine. Now that I've accepted it's limitations I basically just use it to play "messy situationship simulator". Apparently your sim can and will flirt with other sims while in a relationship, no matter how inappropriate the circumstances, but this will create lasting grudges if you get caught. Had to break up a couple because of this, but then they still wanted to bang each other after which was a great for the narrative lol. I also had two sims who just started dating get engaged without any input on my part. They still want to flirt with everyone though so idk how long it will last.
Watching your other sims vids makes me long for what could have been, but it's something to keep me sane when I can't be around real human beings lol so it's got some value to me.

I’m one of the few people that actually really likes TS4. I don’t love it, but I do like it. I’ve been playing since TS1 and TS2 remains my all-time favorite, and I’m also one of the very few people who didn’t like the open world aspect of TS3. I did wait until like around 2017 or so to get it because I knew launch was so drastically bad, and while there’s a lot wrong with TS4 and I’m not blind to its faults, I do think it has its merits.

That all being said, the way EA has ran the sims into the ground has all but convinced me this is my last sims game. I have no interest in playing TS5, nor supporting EA anymore than I already have. I’m infinitely more inclined to support Paralives and Life by You.

It came out when I was 16 so I wasn't on the PC a lot and I defo come from a generation that weren't glued to their computers but it was so bad I never bought any expansions and if I wanted to play sims I'd always load up sims 2. Sims 4 came out when I was 20 and I didn't pay it any heed until my housemate downloaded it when I was 23, I loved the look and the gameplay so much I got it myself that year. EA has destroyed many beloved titles because they wanted to force more money. Games used to be complete with an update every now and then. But now they rush out games and make you pay exorbitant prices to actually play it the way it's advertised. GT7 making you pay for full game price for a new car, paying for pets or cleaning the house? Crazy. I knew this girl that paid over $3k for a game over a year because she kept paying for the new stuff. It was labeled a "free" game.
