It’s crazy how LiFePo4 cells have fallen in price since this video was published.

@willprowse Quality over quantity.
"Big established companies" can afford to order samples from every single supplier to determine the best products of lithium cells, BMS's, wire harnesses, enclosures, overload protection, circuit breakers, isolation material, passive cooling, cooling fans, etc.

While DIY for batteries may seem tempting at "Half the cost"... I feel that unless you plan to resell battery packs for a living with relatively low profit margins, you are better off spending the premium price of 1300-1400$ for ever 5kWh in the current state of the market 2023.

So the bus bars are not really tight because the cells bloat causing movement? Loose terminals cause resistance problems. How is this not a concern?

What were the voltages of each cell when when you did a full cycle of the pack? Of course if some cells were closer to 3.6V and others were down at 3V it would be pretty clear that there is at least some imbalance. It's a very quick test with the multimeter you had on hand and would be very interesting to see.

I started 3d printing cases for my lifep04 cells. So far, seems to work well keeping the cells compressed. Thank you for all of the work you have put into these videos. I built a 12v 280ah lifep04 battery for our camper.

I have different question. Do you have any list of 1 phase 3.6kW ,two strings (MPPT) inverters which would work with DIY LiFePo4 48V bank ?
Finally got my 16 cells LiFePo4 cells EVE 3.2V 280Ah.

I recently building a 12V 4 cells LiFePo battery to replace my lead acid battery for my boat. I bought from Taobo (Chinese version of Ali Express) from a company Jiali Technology. Cells are grade A and arrived in mint condition. The price is RMB 680 (USD 99) for one 310Ah cell. They can provide stronger packaging box for extra (USD $4). The problem I encountered is delivery from China to HK. Many courier companies refused to deliver lithium batteries. End of the day it has to be delivered to my friends home in Shenzhen China and I picked up myself and use a cross border van to deliver to HK. The delivery of the cells to my friend’s home is 3 days after placing order. Lucky I lived in HK and not US. I repeat an oder for 4 more cells yesterday.

Is the movement of the studs in the busbars due to expansion a contact risk?
Couldn't this compromise the connection?
If so, what is the best/ practical solution?
TY.

Hey there man. I love the videos I've kind of been binging them. I wanted to ask what I would need to do if I wanted to make a 96v 60ah battery with these types of batteries. I would be wanting to pull around 200 to 250ah from the battery. This battery would be for an electric dirtbike. thoughts?

I notice you rely on the plastic wrap of each of the cell to separate the cells from each other. Is the aluminum case internally electronically connected to the positive or negative terminal of the cell? Any chance the plastic shrink wrap around these cells break due to expansion or old age? In that case i think you need to insulate between cells. But i guess you have had no problem since this video has been out for a year

Well i listen to your advice 12v vs 24v and purchased and battery advice , ended up ordering 8x280ah EVE grade A cell package with 200A Deligreen 24v 8cell bms ,i have 1200w in solar in series running into 100/50 Victron mppt 150/60 would of been better as its pushing close to 90v at peek cool conditions but i live in hot climate 30c 38C summer temps or more heat waves well over 40c
.biggest issue will be keeping the cells cool in the shed thats insulated but temps are still well over 21c 70f ,only thing i can think off to store them in cool would be insulated cement box 3 inch thick under the slab

IMPORTANT: Will, you talked about the relief valve spitting gas all day, you can't breathe etc... So you said the solution would be stick to a ready built battery if you don't understand this stuff. But I ask: These ready sealed batteries Ex: 12.8V 200Ah, which I have seen do not have a pressure relief valve or a gas elimination valve. So, if this happens inside there, where there are days or hours leaking gas and there is no way out, it can become a gas pump or cause a problem internally, including for the BMS that is normally included inside (do you agree with that? ) You Do you know if these gases that release LiFePo4 prismatic cells are not only toxic, but also flammable? Thanks and hugs to my friend!

HI, did you just connected the new battery direct on the old battery to charge? like a parallel connection? or did I miss something.
is it oke to have 2 different battery's in parallel to an inverter? like 1 pack is 10kw and the other 15kw?
great videos I learn a lot. I'm planning on making a 48v offgrid solar bank.
Thanks
