There's no shortage of sites to look into is there? I've a site that straddles both public and private landowners that needs metal detecting ( and possibly digging) but both are reluctant to let the areas to be searched.

Sheffield University management even at a depart-Mental level is nasty and selfish, I was up against a barrister of theirs at my Employment Tribunal 10 years ago, easy way to resolve things but no, the University go in all guns blazing just because they can, I was shot up. Shef Univ. HR department actually paid handsome compo because they knew they and the department had effed up, just to sweep the mess under the carpet, they hadn't followed their own procedures that they had been stupid enough to publish on-line.
Chinese students were badly taken for granted by many staff ( I ran extra mural Mandarin Lessons, the shy students were the teachers). Must be something in the water in Sheff. - Hallam University tried to find voluntary redundancies among quite senior academic staff, could it be because they were building a campus in LONDON at the time, is that why they ran out of money, the bloody idiots?
University of Sheffield were also Empire building, down the hill towards the city centre and on the way to Rotherham too .... Vice Chancellor on her uppers at a foodbank now is she (or he)?
p.s. I think your rambling to musing on Donald Trump is completely spurious as was the usual crap about climate-change, that is very UCU ! Sheffield University is in the middle of an area absolutely devastated by destruction of the Coal industry do you think that was a GOOD thing for Thatcher to do? I'm not accusing you two but 'woke' is used as a legionary's shield against real issues that affect people personally and the university as an institution, woke even lets the middle-classes despise the working classes doesn't it .... because they use the wrong words, because they voted for Brexit, ring any bells boys?

Sheffield used to be very well respected as a University and its archaeology department one of the 'go to' institutions for science based disciplines within the community. No more! I was in Israel when the 'student spies' fiasco appeared on the internet and we all know then where it was gong to end. And when your 'business' model is based on the Chinese cohort, a high dive into woke ideology was bound to end in disaster.
