The demeanor of any dog can be in large part due to the person who "owns" it. I put "own" in quotes for reason's you of course understand. Your animals reflect how lovingly they're treated.

Here in the states Monty would be known as a "mutt". But little mutts, to our family, are some of the most wonderful pets of all. The sweetest dog we ever had was "Fox" and we never knew what breed he was. We have raised field trial Labradors and such. But Fox was the most amazing of them all. Hunted like a Fox and 100% family loyal and loving to the core. The bow tie story was priceless. Just goes to show how shallow some folks can be. Never judge a book by its cover cuz some of the worst covers ARE the best reads :).

Monty does work though, he works hard at being cute!!

Monty looks like my friend's Esther's Whippet, Percival. and her husband Bert raised 2 Greyhounds, but after they, Bert, and Percy died, she adopted a GSD she named Angel. They're all over the Rainbow Bridge, except Esther who's with her Bert now in Heaven. Do you believe dogs grieve to death after the death of a friend or relative pet? My Gypsy died 8 months after her cousin Bo Peep died.

Your dogs look like they couldn't be happier

Here in Australia if not full breed greyhounds they are an usually given away as they can't race them. I have had 6 greyhounds in 22 years for some reason I get 1 then add another then another. So 2 groups of 3. Lost my last in March 2024 at 12. Never seen a lurcher in the flesh.

I got a furminator for my golden who sheds like a beast. It was a game changer for shedding, best brush ever.

We had a beautiful brindle colour lurcher - border collie x whippet. We had to make a difficult decision when she was about four to have one of her back legs amputated, due to a recuring tumor growth, but it never slowed her down, or stopped her tail wagging. The whole village knew her and she was friendly with everyone.
She LOVED being out in the local countryside chasing rabbits and squirrels, but we had adopted two pet rabbits that took over our back yard and Jess never attacked them. She would happily stand in the yard watching them, while they played chase with each other in and out of her (three!) legs. When one of them escaped, Jess tracked him down and found him under a neighbours car.
She would help me bring the weekly shop in from the car, taking packets and boxes, dropping them on the kitchen floor and coming back for more and she would always round us up when SHE was ready for bed!!
Nobody taught her, but when she got older and struggled on the stairs with just three legs, she would go half way up facing forwards, then turn round and do the top half backwards!!! She was the most cuddlesome, loving, clever pocket rocket you could ever wish to meet and lived to 12 years old.
We still miss her now, ten years on.

Monty is an amazing dog. You kids got lucky when you adopted him. I think the widow felt your kindness and knew you were perfect for her husband's beloved pup. It was probably hard enough for both of them to have to put Monty in a boarding kennel, and she probably hated the thought of sending him to a shelter, never knowing what became of him.

We have a border collie whipet cross and she has a personality of her own , she took years to grow and was a small but very fast dog who when she was at the pet park with other dogs she would stir them up so they would chase her , then she would run looking over her shoulder so she could stay just in front . She is very clever at making out she is not , very obedent but has a mind of her own and has us trained to understand what she wants , also an excellent hunter , no problem chasing and catching rabbits when she was young and still catches bunnies now at at 12 years old , worked out how to find them in the grass , and as a keen hunter she plays for keeps .

Monty is a very lucky dog!

Dogs generally do not have problems. Human come chock full of problems. Sean's video show us dogs want praise (don't we all) which is reassurance they are part of the family and training. Training. Thank you, Sean. Training takes knowledge about the dog(s) and training is patience and repetition, don't expect your dog to guess correctly. I have no idea why individuals living in crowded urban setting purchase working dogs. Keep training us Sean and like seeing the missus.
