I have1920 England army uniform
ОтветитьThe rifle isn’t a breech loading it’s a bolt action, what the heck, they need to do their research. Also the bolt action didn’t come in straight away, the breech loading game before then bolt actions. Honestly these museum people don’t know their stuff……
ОтветитьThe modern British military uniforms today are literally crap. British Army isn’t even smart anymore.
ОтветитьTop secret location (Procides to give location of it)
ОтветитьThe bolt action rifle shown is a lee Metford
ОтветитьThe Romans wore uniforms, in Britain. So please don't say that there were no uniforms prior to the Civil war.
Ответить1822 is the wrong date ... geee it was 1817..
ОтветитьA nice video, but very cursory and had the air of a fashion review rather than an historical review.
ОтветитьBrilliant doc . History hit tv always gives us their best. Your huge fan from Sri Lanka ❤️🔥. Thnk you. We always appreciate your hard work and dedication..
ОтветитьSeeing the words Royal Artillery on that ww2 tunic made me smile, great grandad was RA and its still a lot of pride for me to say that
ОтветитьThe evolution of British uniforms is the same as all British military kit, if it's cheap get it and screw those who have to make do.
ОтветитьVery interesting, and delivered very nicely by two very well spoken young ladies,
Ответитьand the Martini-henry? This was a breech loader too. Additionally the Rifle regiment wore green from the Iberian peninsular campaign
ОтветитьA very feminine critique and appreciation. This all sounds as if it were a presentation for a fashion show......and 'mine hostess' speaks and prances around as if it were precisely that.
ОтветитьReally good but please stop saying red is for seeing through the battlefield, it was picked by Cromwell for the new model army because it was the cheapest colour available in London at the time. This misconception is so extreme.
ОтветитьVerry interesting video 👍🏻
ОтветитьThank you for this overview--while not comprehensive, it certainly was interesting and kept my attention (and left me wanting more!)
ОтветитьWay, way back in the 70's I remember a family friend showing me a red coat she was getting rid of that she had bought in Carnaby St in the swinging 60's, it was absolutely rammed with gold braiding and I remember especially the gorgeous buttons. She also showed me a massive Afghan coat which I remember whiffed quite a bit.
ОтветитьThe British, the most violent in history, yet women clutch their purses when I pass on the street.
ОтветитьThis history is very interesting but it's full of mistakes which is very unfortunate coming from so called experts. A clear one is that the DPM lightweight jacket or what we used to call Soldier 95 Shirt was called so as that was the issued pattern from 1995. If I'm right DPM started being issued around 1966 in limited numbers. Than again 1968, 1972, 85, 94, with various adjustments in colours and hues. The major change in the uniform was the CS 95 pattern with Canadian style taped buttons.
ОтветитьThe change in coat length had zero to do with ability to march and everything to do with changes in men’s fashions. The 18th century uniform would include breeches, a waistcoat, a haversack, gaiters, powder cartridge case, powder horn, pack, hat, and bayonet sling/carrier for infantry. The flintlock is probably a “Brown Bess” which means smooth boar firing round shot and inaccurate is an understatement. More like “can’t hit the broad side of a barn”
ОтветитьI honestly wished Jonathan Ferguson just walked out like Chris Hansen with two different firearms
ОтветитьThe reason red was used in the earlier troop clothing was because it was the cheapest dye. In the 1700's the coats were so durable that a farmer used the red coat on a scarecrow after the revolutionary war in America and it lasted for many decades.
ОтветитьSurprised they didn’t send them to Iraq with some of this kit 🤣🤣🤣
Ответитьchick knows nothing about these rifles lol
ОтветитьWhat a fantastic presentation!!! Please go back and study another topic, like military drums, medals, or some other interesting topic....
ОтветитьNo mention of the Royal Green Jackets who came down through Canada to fight in the War of Independence and destroyed the White House. They were looked down upon as they did not wear the traditional red and white uniform and were able to blend into the environment. Camouflage was not the done thing !
ОтветитьNot a fashion show.
ОтветитьBritish Army? I think it's English Army ,
ОтветитьInteresting vid, Although I could not get over the girl/woman presenter she is very dim, and non interesting questions and looking bored all the time, moving about standing up?
ОтветитьBoer War, not Boar, we are boere not boars
ОтветитьYour knowledge of Pride and Prejudice and who said what about whom is amazing ! At last, someone who ain't embarrased about, rather takes pride in, British history and culture!
ОтветитьRED MAYAN ALL OVER THESE WHITE FOLKS
ОтветитьBritish chicks rule
Ответитьhow does the curator not know we brits called our uniforms combat & number 2 dress...??
Ответить"boar war"
ОтветитьA good vid but one thing that isn’t told is that red was standardised by the New Model Army of the Roundheads. Charles II kept the design after the restoration.
ОтветитьInteresting video. I enjoyed it very much. Questionable firearm handling though. They should always be treated as being loaded. You shouldn't point them at each other and certainly keep your finger off the trigger. Even if you know they have been made safe, which these most certainly were.
ОтветитьWomen glorifying men dying in battle feels a lot like men taking the piss out of the suffragettes. “Oooh, look at the shitty dresses they wore! Lol”
ОтветитьIf you wear that i am sure you will feel like you can Colonize the world. Very fancy Clothes.
ОтветитьEvolution, dropping the high vis red uniform finally dropped seems pretty obvious to me!
ОтветитьRegulations and what troops actually war could vary. A study of the American Revolution will reveal the actual variations that were adopten in the field out of necessity. It was the adoption of Khaki in India which proved a far more practical colour in the field that led to it becoming a standard by WW1
ОтветитьGreat video but good lord woman, I know it’s unloaded but never point a gun at someone’s face like that.
ОтветитьOriginally British Army uniform was first worn by Cromwell's New Model Army. The colour was Venice red, coming from the rose madder root and the fabric was wool, which retains warmth even when it is wet. The top coat was thick leather from buffalo hide, hence 'buff' coat. Red coats were dropped during the Second South African War as they provided too good a target for the Boers rifles.
ОтветитьI thought that Napolean came up with the idea of buttons on sleeves because the soldiers used to wipe their noses with them? I may be wrong, though. This knowledge I got down the Squaddie pud in the 80's...
ОтветитьNote at the 12th minute, she was handed the rifle but (Didn't) check to see if the thing was loaded...This is a massive no no and why Alec Baldwin got in trouble...
