ОтветитьCool Jeff! Thank you for the pro tips. Wish me luck!
ОтветитьValuable.
ОтветитьGod, the more I watch this kind of videos, the more anxiety I have.
ОтветитьI love your channel but there is no way I would ask 5 people to read every cover letter I write. I would have no more friends. : )
ОтветитьThe hook prompt from chatgpt just doesn't work, and chatgpt spills out either a garbage intro or an entire Cover Letter within 100 words .........
ОтветитьThen u better keep machines in your job. where is the appreciation of being one's self. Appreciate real talent not words and gimmicks. Any companies needs talented and honest employee for long run.. what he says is just to grab a job.
ОтветитьHi Jeff, thanks for the video. I am developing a few tools for a recruitment bureau and I use these methods to automate CV/resume writing target towards specific job postings. Prompt engineering is definitely not my strong side. Just curious - would you do consulting in helping me automating this process? Thank you
Ответитьyou said it was free...why is it $9?
ОтветитьCan you assist me with my cover letter please? I am struggling with my resume
ОтветитьSorry but relying mostly on ChatGPT for a lot ways to fix these issues is unimaginative and unhelpful, especially for those of us who refuse to use such "AI" tools as they're usually not true AI and can easily give false information. I did appreciate the address tip and not using a template style opening paragraph for same companies with same job openings so thank you for that.
ОтветитьI am looking at internships how can I be sure I am address the right person?
ОтветитьJeff I am following you for a long time your videos are always to the point precise. In your videos your efforts are 110% I would like to request you if you could please make a video on cover letter for a masters student recently graduated wants to rejoin the work force.
ОтветитьThat's great
ОтветитьTbh if you really don't know who to address it to I personally don't see a problem saying "To Whom It May Concern". I think saying this is not as bad as the example given in the first part of the video.
ОтветитьLove your energy and those recommended ChatGPT prompts!
ОтветитьThanks!
Ответить@JeffSu Hey Jeff. I just stumbled across your channel. The quality of your content is clearly high value. A possible pro tip that I could offer: I followed the prompts that you gave for using ChatGPT to generate a good hook. I was kind of unsatisfied with the hook that it gave me, but then I added in the job description from my previous/present role and it was much better! Hope that helps. Thanks.
ОтветитьHello Jeff
ОтветитьDo this but the person is transitioning from completely different field / just graduated from college :)
ОтветитьHi @Jeff, your content are always amazing. However, is it possible to guide on 1 resume and 1 cover letter to apply for a job rather than tailoring all the resume and cover letter? Is that even recommended ?
ОтветитьOne of the most impactful videos I’ve ever seen to this topic thank you very much!
Ответить🤯 I’ve been sending out cover addressed to Dear [company] Hiring Team— had no idea this was wrong until I saw this vid!
ОтветитьReally helpful, was about to make same mistakes when applying for your job podt on upwork. Thanks
ОтветитьThanks for the tips, though I spent the last 20 mins trying to find which people are in charge of a graduate scheme with no luck. A couple senior people appeared on LinkedIn, but I'm not sure if they have anything to do with the graduate scheme so I am hesitant to include them in the cover letter.
ОтветитьHi Jeff, my name is Fuad from Indonesia. I'm curious. As a community Manager, how the best way to create a portfolio for my position? I mean like the graphic designer, editor or any creative position could show their work such as their design, movie, article, etc. But how should I create a portfolio of my position? I'd appreciate it if you could help me. Thanks Jeff
ОтветитьEye-opening tips! The tips on quantifying impact and crafting an engaging hook were pure gold. Thanks for simplifying the cover letter process :D
ОтветитьJeff you rock - and you know your subject. I love to write and I'm not looking for a job. But I still audit your "classes" and every time I feel smarter afterwards. Big Fan, thank you!
ОтветитьIf we’re already including our best accomplishment stats in our resume, should we be repeating any in the cover letter? Or should we try to “save” one or two for the cover letter? Thanks for the vid :)
ОтветитьExcellent ! Can we get get a video on how to write recommendation letter to secure a seat in university for bachelors or masters or to get a job etc?
Looking foward for your reply and video😁
Thank gou! ❤️
ОтветитьSo brilliant. It's been disappointingly ugly out here. Okay. The question. You had a letter series that I cannot find. Can you post that link again. Thank you
ОтветитьReally useful and practical examples, Jeff. I have definitely made a lot of these mistakes myself, so this is a game-changer for sure!😅
ОтветитьWhen I get a notification from Jeff, I click immediately!!!
ОтветитьHey Jeff, really love your work and have been following and keeping my update with all your videos since your resumé video.
Even though I corporated all these tips point to point I have found myself in situations where I was not selected for the job because a guy with 5-10 years of experience than me has applied to the fresher job and the company takes them in because its a “High Value” candidate for a freshers package.
Even though I strongly believe a plain resume and cover letter format limited to one page must be a standard, However here in the Middle east, the candidates purely get selected based on their experience years.
I have seen horrible resumes of people who get recruited. Most lack even the basic communication skills.
Their resumes have
1. All their personal data in the end of resume, they even include father names, wife name, dob, and a picture which takes about 25% of the page.
2. Their resume is always more than 2 pages not because they include too much information it’s because poor formatting and lots of blank spaces.
3. Its always the same summary or objective. Lots of jargon, buzz words and repetitive words.
4. Poor punctuation and layout.
When I see these resumes get recruited vs my resume in which I made sure to follow every right procedure just because I am a “fresher” applying for a “fresher” job vs a 5-10 year experienced guy. It is really disheartening and not much confidence inspiring.
What would your opinion be on these issues?
Saw your spoiler in the AMA 😀
What if I already made mistake #1 and about to make that again? 🥲Context: the deadline is approaching and I got almost no time to find out who's the hiring manager. In certain job postings, they have a vague department name. For some industries, people don't seem to even have a LinkedIn profile (let say government sector), would "Dear Hiring Manager" is still acceptable? Thank you!
How many words the cover letter should have 300?
ОтветитьThe advice you give is always on point and the effort you put into these videos is something else! I find them so captivating and pleasing to the eye.
ОтветитьAwesome ! Love it ❤
Hope can be help in getting interview !
Tipp #1 is AWESOME!
Just finished watching the video: it’s really good input. The prompts for chatgpt are also really helpful. Most of the time I know WHAT I want to say but don’t know HOW to say it 😂😂😂
Great advice! Thank you, Jeff! I have a comment, please. You mentioned to address it to the manager of the role we are applying. From what I know, the recruiters are first screening through the cover letters and the CVs and then shortlisting them for further interviews/assessments. What do you think about addressing the cover letter to the recruiter?
ОтветитьPure value! Driving to work, had to pull over and watch this the second I got the notification. Good start to the day, thanks Jeff!
ОтветитьMy cover letter has always been an mp3 of me singing why I'm perfect for the job.
