Ever heard of G41 or G42?
Work out seem to be more a thing for this teacher.

hi , i am very new at this realm and I really love it , my question is how to determine which tool to use, is there any guide to know the type of cutter that does a certain cut

Amazing..
Can i ask a question.
When to use and what the difference between
G01 / G41 and G42
And
Radius R and I J code in programming.
I just get a little confusing 😅
Thank you for answering 😊

i was trying to make a warmup program manually swinging a bunch radii around the machine envelope and whatnot and i put like g90 g53 g00 x-1. y-6. ; g03 x-6. y-11. r5. f75. ; and it says radius out of tolerance, am i doing sum wrong? i tried with i and j as well

When do you use a d1 for cutter comp sometimes depending on who writes program tool diameter is .500 not 0.0

When your doing this in a job shop with weldments you need to be 10 steps ahead and think about the next op, and how to set yourself up for the next stage….My first op is a lot of helping the welders after what I cut, center point cuts for them to ref, spot facing for parts to be welded on, even if it’s 20% clean up, it’s all about makeing the next stage more accurate so my final stage is easier….

No way. Just use tool cutter compensation so yu don’t have to calculate cutter radius to confusing

It’s not just guessing be precise if your going to teach. G codes or functional codes or geometric movement and M codes are Miscellaneous movement which assists geometric movement or inquiries

Typing this stuff on an interface like this (while standing, overhead monitor, awful membrane keyboard) the effort being made here is enormous, I appreciate that! But imho having a mental model of the work being done and being able to write / alter the codes accordingly in your head and keep all of it streight (yes there are simulations but still) is the real kicker here! Respect❤

Don't you use G41or G2 for cutter radius compensation

I am curretly studying in a trade school to become a machinist, and manual programing is all I've done so far, either on the controller or on a PC with a simulation software.
It really is quite interesting to see how people do things just a little bit differently, and learn from each other. For example I used to just write all the code into one long string, but a colleague of mine leaves single empty EOB lines between different operations, and boy does it make things easier to navigate.

All CNC machinists must be able to program manually to understand what the codes do, just as a reference if a line needs to be checked.

All the tool paths i would progarmme i would use cutter comp with g41 to left of the path, when programming by hand. Then you can lie about cutter size and say its bigger. Then you can adjust it down after measuring the work peice

Love this; Thank you. In my opinion ; the input manner is a 1980's format, ergonomically wrong and a productivity barrier. For a simple part this should be done using more than your index finger and a windows 95 interface..:)

This makes me so happy I switched to metric, lol. I am a noob hobbyist tho so don't judge me it just looks WAY easier to do these in metric.

Also what a time saver just doing these manually than running everything in fusion 360. So cool!

I will be taking some notes. Hopefully I can find more videos to help me get some sort of grasp before I step into this new profession
