Was it really a "once peaceful land" or were there already violent tensions that erupted following British abdication? India still had a Hindu cast system including "untouchables" who were treated like garbage while Hindi. Muslim people were treated worse by Hindi. To this day the northern region of India still kills thousands of their religious foes and their rapes their own women in public. This is not a civilized place and it was not ever peaceful. Does Pakistan really want to be part of greater India again? NO! The brittish were awful, but the war between religions could be different and worse without partition. Imagine greater india today which would include Afganistan, Bangaladesh, Pakistan and more. Then imagine voting in India. Violence in india. Imagine an India that borders Iran and the tremendous Sunni v Shiite conflict on those borders. It is true that real history isn't being taught in the US, but it's much worse in the middle east and south asia.

As a upsc aspirant let me tell you the reasons for partition:
1) british inability to make a responsible exit from india and left her in chaos. British forces did nothing to stop the violence

2)giving the veto to jinnah who was funded by british. Jinnah forced everyone to let muslims form seperate country but he didnt know that a bengali muslim and hindu were more alike than punjabi and bengali muslim.

3)hindu right wing like hindu mahasabha .

4)Partition lines were drawn by someone who had never been to india

5) british could have handed power to the congress itself which would have prevented the partition.

This documentary is interviewing Dhimmi Hindus who are blaming Hindus for the partition but the primary cause of partition of India was Islam. Islam is just a terrorist cult and Islam can't live in harmony with other religions and today Islam is a global headache.

The partition of India was the best thing to happen to India in the long run else India would have been a shit hole like Pakistan. Only thing that went wrong was the bloodshed. Their should have been the peaceful exchange of entire Hindu & Muslim population across the borders as advocated by Dr. Ambedkar. Gandhi was an idiot and because of him & his pseudo intellectual followers millions got killed, raped and displaced and India still has 30 crores Muslim population despite giving Muslims 1/3rd of United India to 24% Muslims of 1947.
In short India just lost major chunk of land and resources without getting rid of 30 crores muslim population which results in riots, over traffic, pollution, water scarcity and all the problems associated with over population.
