I have a question for you. On your calculator page you are shown PPR for different engines. I have a weird one for you. This is a twin cylinder 4 stroke and both pistons fire at the same time. In this case would the PPR be 1, 1/2, or something different?? What this is, Is a turbocharged snowmobile that i have a tune on sitting at 260HP. I am running a full 3" exhaust but the drone will drive you batty at 5300 Rpm's.

Ps. Is a 4 cylinder 4 Stroke engine

Thanks

So basically it's the same principle as a tuned expansion chamber on a 2 stroke engine. The combustion pulses, ie. sound waves, reflects back to the engine. In a 2 stroke engine it increases the pressure in the cylinder. In this case it cancels the sound or drone that you tune the system to. Interesting.

I'm buying a Greddy muffler for my 2022 XSE Corolla Hatchback 6MT, and I want to make sure there is exactly zero drone because I use this car for ride sharing.

I want the sound that is missing from the 6MT driving experience without putting a metric fuck ton of exhaust drone in the car because that will not only ruin my driving experience, but it'll also ruin my customers experience as a passenger in my car.

For the record, the engine is a 2.0liter 4 cylinder, and I'm still deciding between a single exit with a Greddy Revolution RS muffler, OR, replace the fake dual exhaust tips with real dual exhaust tips, making use of TWO Greddy Revolution RS mufflers. If I do the "Honda S2000" thing and go for the real dual exit exhaust, would that be louder, or quieter than a single exit exhaust?

I'm sure I could just look this stuff up and try my luck on forums or website FAQs, but what I've found so far doesn't really answer my questions.

Thank you! If I can't fit a 40" pipe under my car easily do you think using exactly half the recommended length will be worth trying to at least improve it? From my understanding of sound and instruments, half the length should be an octave higher and still resonate with the drone frequency.

I have a lot of questions LOL

- can you put the pipe anywhere?
- instead of 1 long pipe, can you split it into two small ones?
- Is it better to have two j pipes?
- does making the j pipe longer better or does it have to be the exact size?
- does the pipe have to match with the stock exhaust pipe size?
- what if drone occurs at different RPMs? For the calculations, do I put peak value when drone is more annoying?
- are there any other solutions to lowering drone besides installing a j pipe? would sound dampening panels inside help too?

Hi. Ive got a straight-through muffler on my car just behind the bumper. I welded a j-pipe before just before the muffler where there was barely enough room. It has definitely reduced the drone, but not eliminated it. Would it make any difference if the drone pipe was welded after the muffler i.e a few inches before the exhaust tip opening? There is only about 4 inches of pipe for the exhaust tip, so not much space.

What options are for drone in two spots 2100rpm is worst and 3000 rpm at more rpm calculator asks for shorter pipe and at lower it needs longer pipe...its a 6 cyl bmw engine if it makes sense tnx for any information will be apriciated!👍

Hi. I have a 2.5T Mondeo. 5 cylinder Volvo engine. I have installed a straight flow silencer and a straight flow rear muffler. When I'm on a constant cruising speed there is no drone but in the moment I'm accelerating (under engine load) OR I let the gas off and the car start to slow down, the drone start. Kind of every RPM range. What do you recommend in this case?

Mine didn't work at all.. 1600 rpm v8 dual pipes with a H pipe. Used the same diameter tube, calculated 900mm or 35.7", I didn't measure exhaust temp though. Guessed 200f/95c because I read on a forum someone calculated that temp inside the j pipe. Mine are welded in front of the mufflers, about under the front seat in my C10 truck
