Im so glad accents exist, theyre so fun, singaporean accent is very nice :)
ОтветитьWho would want to speak like that?
ОтветитьI change my accent back to singlish and change structure of sentences when im back in sg..otherwise i realised my friends finds it weird or the aunties and uncles at hawker center does not understand me 😅
ОтветитьIt sounds dumb and irritating to be honest
ОтветитьI think the host of this Programme has a Singaporean accent. If I were to hear him speak abroad, I would identify him as a Singaporean "dj" accent. As much as we like to think he has a "foreign accent", I would be able to tell he is Singaporean or Malaysian just from the way he speaks if he were overseas.
ОтветитьYeah, they're kinda right, your accent is the TV accent, or I would say the standard accent. I'm Malaysian and it's the similar, we have the spoken accent and the standard accent used on TV, but I noticed that the typical Singlish is more similar to the English spoken by Chinese Malaysians and not so by the Malays or Indians or East Malaysians. My friend who worked in Singapore for a while told me that he could definitely hear a distinct Singaporean accent which I'm still puzzled about.
ОтветитьI like Singaporean 😊
ОтветитьInteresting I feel like the people who spoke in this video have an African sounding Accent
ОтветитьDear Singaporeans, don't forget that most of you are still chinese, so don't thing that the west is more superior than us Asians. Unless you are ready to become one of them.
Sincerely, Asian guy from Indonesia
Omg get a grip
ОтветитьIn malaysia, its easy to tell who is a singaporean. Usually, the behavior is like rushing to somewhere, speaks faster and like no patience. I am not saying the environment nurtured them to be so but malaysians are more relaxed and not so serious with life
ОтветитьFauzi may speak English well. Still he has his accent. Not North American or British Accent. As for Singaporean accent, it is so easy understand. After all, across the border, JB and Singapore, language is not an issue. We still can becomes friend-friend. Can borak wan. 😂
ОтветитьWow you guys natural accent sounds like Nigerian accent
ОтветитьPeople always say I have an accent. Especially when I speak Malay.
Me: speaks
Other people: You speak slang.
I'm not a Singaporean, but I support all Singaporean to keep the way they talk and to keep the Singlish as their identity, nothing wrong with that, instead they are cool!
ОтветитьSingaporeans sound similar to Caribbeans speaking English
ОтветитьSingaporean accent is no accent
ОтветитьMy boyfriend studied overseas for quite some time and he does have a very distinct accent and i think it sounds really sexy but he does tey to speak in his Singaporean accent when he speaks Singlish and it's insanely cute.
ОтветитьBelieve me if you want to know if you have an accent or not just ask native speakers of English from England or from America. They will tell you to your face that you all have really weird accents.
ОтветитьPinoy accent
ОтветитьSnoozefest.
Ответитьbelong to the TV and Radio, not street
Ответитьthis is random... but they're filming outside my school haha
ОтветитьAmericans think they don't have an accent, and they're famous for only speaking English. We all have an accent. Lol
ОтветитьYou have an atas Singaporean accent. It's like the equivalent of the British R.P accent or the Queen's accent. So it's the polished version of the Singaporean accent while still remaining distinguishably local.
ОтветитьMY OPINION: THEY ARE WANNABE ANGMOHS!! DUHHHHH
ОтветитьWhat is an fake accent tho? Lol
ОтветитьI cannot stand Singaporeans who fake an English or American accent. Even our late Founding Father, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who spoke Queen's English did not fake an English accent.
ОтветитьI think Singlish is so unique and powerful, although we don't sound that great because we do not stress any of the words, but Singlish actually made us really good at understand English spoke by different nationality...lol. It's more surprising to know other English speaker who can't understand another English speaker just because of accent, whereas for us, we could understand pretty well be it ppl from British, Australia, America, India, Japan, Korea, China etc. 🤭
ОтветитьHaha I like the ‘standard TV accent’ esp when watching local sg productions or radio channels.
ОтветитьThe main problem with people is, if you speak well they will discriminate you but if you speaks poorly, they will always have a bad comment about you. Dear readers, just be comfortable with yourself.
ОтветитьInitially, my journey to learning english is my goal, is to speaking fluently. As the time passes by, i came to realise, i am speaking differently from my other domestic peer. At first, i may be feeling joy, but later on, i am always being leftout from other local people. They will regard you as a foreigner.
ОтветитьI’m not very fluent in English, but English classes here teach American accent, and I watch many videos made by Americans. Plus I’m Asian. Singaporeans will definitely think I was faking an Angmo accent💀
ОтветитьThe interviewer has a smooth accent, but the singlish accent sounds quite harsh. Not pleasant to listen to.
ОтветитьTechnically everyone has an accent is just what type of accent it is
ОтветитьYa just don't fake it when you don't have it.
ОтветитьI thought the accent would vary from stereotypical Chinese or Indian to almost Australian sounding.
ОтветитьANG MOH VERY RARE IN SOME PRIMARY SCHOOL SIA
ОтветитьHonestly, code-switching is key. When you are speaking with friends, personally i speak in singlish and slang because its the singaporean way and we can do it comfortably and informally, but in formal situations, i speak with good english, and people always think that good English=White Accent.
Ответитьyeh... I'm a singaporean but since I have a lot of caucasian family members, I talk like an angmoh. And yeah I also look angmoh so doesn't really help. I don't like speaking much in public because of the accent and I tried to get the singlish accent and also tried using the.. 'lah, lor, sia..' but uhh sounds damn awkward with my accent lol
ОтветитьHe doesnt have any accent.but speak good english.slow down helps too.dont rush in yr speech nor talking
ОтветитьMy immediate family emigrated from Singapore over 30 years ago in favor for Canada, when I’d just turned 6 years old. When I go to Singapore to visit extended family, I’m generally not hanging out in touristy areas, but hawker centers, HDB apartment neighborhoods and uncle and auntie shops. And the people I meet sometimes ask where I’m from, and don’t believe me when I say Singapore 😅
I’ve since introduced myself as Canadian to avoid an explanation/ confusion.
Actually no many people know singapore is a western country
Ответить"I ding" instead of I think, "already" instead of using a complete tense AND so "overused", "can not" instead of can't, "lai" instead of like, "ok can" instead of using sure, no problem, absolutely... very Sing lah
ОтветитьSinglish makes me lose my appetite. It's the accent I have been trying to avoid all my life. I do not want to get my British accent completely ruined by Singlish.
ОтветитьI love it cuz they sound like they have Caribbean accents and I have a accent myself lol but I do hear it
ОтветитьEveryone has an accent. It's just a matter of what kind of accent... English, Australian, American, Chinese, Japanese, Singaporean etc
ОтветитьI think yours is a bit of an American accent mixed with Singaporean accent. Your enunciation of the word 'r' is not as strong as Americans but your 'a' sounds are more American than British
Ответить
