I meant to make this clearer in the video, but I don’t believe that Garrison ACTUALLY has DID, I meant to say that it seemed to be more of a symptom of the BPD rather than an actual separate disorder. Just wanted to clarify that!

Being aware that a gender transition involves respecting the person's new name and pronouns, going through the trouble of including the new name and pronouns in your notes, then deciding not to honor them just because it's easier not to - this is lazy and disrespectful, even if we're talking about Mrs Garrison.

It seems like Mr. Garrison’s belief that his father violating him would be a sign of love indicates that he actually has been, but normalized it. This idea is strengthened by his mention of his uncle doing so while he was an adult. There is nothing to indicate this wasn't going on prior, and it would make a lot of sense, especially because abuse like that rarely starts in adulthood and also rarely stops without intervention.

I think it's interesting that Mr. Hat is kind of a metaphorical hat Mr. Garrison puts on to express himself.

There is of course also the QUIET version of this disorder, wherein most of the symptoms that are often acted upon and become external behaviours are instead internalized, sometimes to the point of a close-to or actual psychotic break from reality. Imagine having all this atuff constantly raging inside you without being able to ventilate or perhaps even open up about it... Seems like the definition for living in "hell on earth".

Garrison is a school teacher. Not only the most worthless profession in the world but they also made his attitude reflect how teachers really are.

I know you prefaced this by saying you aren’t a psychiatrist ofc, but he can’t have DID. Overall the symptoms don’t line up, but paramount among them, one of the hallmarks of DID is that the personalities are unaware of what the other is doing. They can’t both participate in a conversation like this. This would be more schizophrenia or schizotypal.

Honestly Mr.Garrison is one of my favorite characters on TV I like him although he says some really nasty vile stuff I like him as a gay character more then many others a lotta folk just play it so safe and boring or they literally flanderize and make gay characters as almost fairy esk stereotypes and it’s really insulting I still remember how genuinely repulsed and shocked I was at the stuff he did like lemmywinx or Mr garrisons fancy new is where he earned his place as one of my fave characters I’ve just never seen anything so messed up on TV and I don’t think South Park n tv would be the same without him his brutal honesty and just brunt way he explains things to the children n engages in arguments he is such a important part of the show! I can 100% understand why people hate him or wouldn’t even watch South Park because of the horrible homophobic things they’ve done with him but I still think under Cartman he is the 2nd most interesting character to follow along with plot lines and jokes I’d much rather we follow garrison then randy or even Kyle or stans dilemmas

I feel like the idea behind Mr. Slave is a metaphor referring to codependency. Whether you are gay or straight you will do anything to keep the person you want to be with. Mr. Garrison treated Mr. Slaves feelings as a betrayal. Because Garrison couldn't accept the fact that him appearing as a woman would make Mr. Slave appear as straight and Mr. Slave is of course a proud gay man. Then he tries to go back to Mr. Slave only to discover that Mr. Slave has moved on. This enrages him further and he swears of men entirely. Now he is in a new same sex relationship with a partner that seems to be more of a dom compared to the sub that Mr. Slave was.

It's okay to not know who you are and need support as you figure it out. It's not okay to keep a chip on your shoulder and have overblown reactions to even the smallest hurdles. It's also not okay to project your negative feelings onto others and come at them with the assumption they won't accept you. Any other person exhibiting that behavior would rightly be understood as having severe mental health issues and given the proper guidance into being okay again. Instead, the community has been allowed to regress into immaturity and placated to the point of misleading the youngest generation of the community into tearing themselves apart for the sake of fleeting personal identity labels. The labels don't matter. But we're not socially allowed to have a mildly critical or even just neutral opinion on the core issue
