I believe this is about BEing before DOing. If you have anything at all worthy of being written, it has likely only come from having BEEN something of value by way of a slow cooked journey including tons of well-spent time waiting rather than an instapot attempt to conjure up some sort of meaning to be robotically transferred from one person to another.

Isn't it kind of demotivating

Oh Mate, wise words but it's setting to burst out of me, three thousand different stories, many of which I just burned because I didn't think the writing was ok, it didn't 'scan; (as though I was writing poetry?) I think I understand what you are saying, it's not something you decide to do, it's something you were born to do. I wake up talking another (unknown) language and solving a cryptic crossword puzzle from two years ago, that's not normal. The worst thing that happened in my life/education was the most boring honours english teacher that turned me off the entire subject, to a degree he's still there being boring and mundane. Christ, a bullet would have been a kindness for that man, certainly kinder to us.
So, true to type, I have decided to be annoying and boring as well, you're welcome! Y I ougtha...?

I think he means it just the way he says it. I’m at a point where I feel creatively blocked like never before in life. And whenever I write something it just feels forced. No matter how hard I try. The divine inspiration is gone..

If you call Bukowski a great writer, do not do it.

I love Bukowski. I know that he wasn't exactly a good person, but then again none of us are good people at the end of the day. We're all people who are just trying to make it to the end of the road. But Bukowski saw things for how they were. He didn't let anyone tell him how he should see things, or how he should live his life. I'm a writer myself and I know that deep down I aspire to be like Bukowski those ways. We should all aspire to be truly and unapologetically ourselves. Bukowski was a rugged man but a beautiful soul and I hope future generations continue to read his work. God knows we could all use it in this 21st century carnival.

I have listened to this for three days straight, a voice tandem with poise and grit.

For me I want to be a writer because I am a creative person who is bursting with idea’s I want to purplish books to get my ideas and stories out there not just for money or fame I don’t know If I’ll ever make it sense I’m only 13. But I have 6 more years till I graduate so I hope I’ll be a writer one day because I try I write a lot I’m practicing grammar a lot right now. I just hope I can pull this off because If I don’t I’m gonna be working at a job that would make me hate myself and I don’t want that for me. I wanna like my job. And I know that’s hard for a lot of Americans to archive but I wanna prove I can do this because if I don’t I never will I don’t know if I’m doing this for the right reasons but I’m trying. And I think that’s all that matter’s I’ve also won an essay award which isn’t too important but I’m still proud of it I don’t know if I’ll ever have a shot but I’m willing to try. I might edit or reply to this if any major things happen in my life that have something to do with writing but for now so far I’m just putting in a lot of effort.

Writing is hard. And it hurts. But a true writer will endure this pain and push through. I love Bukowski and Hemingway both. ❤

Shut up... I'll do it despite all of that

Bukowski has helped me so much in the dark his words burn bright I see light 🔥 these writers never suffered, never shot a gun to survive or out of malice. These writers never sold crack, never been arrested, never took accountability & lived in a cage. They never dealt with addiction, saw their friends die one by one, these writers didn’t bare witness to their mother the only thing holy in their existence wither away , deteriorate & you couldn’t even hold her hand or wash her as she washed you in infancy. These writers never lost their home. Home is a memory a smell. How can they write anything that burns with such dull lives to write about the fire you have to burn first 🔥 nobody wants to burn trust me.

No matter how much I struggle with it...I will still do it. Screw you.

This poem is for two type of people. Those who wants to change their fate and those who are fated to be. It served it purpose well. Which one are you? If you are angry, disagree, confused, and try to make sense of his words then, you are the first kind. If this poem comforts you then, you are the latter, because you know when the bluebird sang its song, you will be at the forefront to tell the greatest saga of all times.

We all came in the world much in the same way. And to that very point, someone told me once, “You didn’t come into the world knowing anything, you have to learn.”

Good writing is an art. And like any artist one gets better with practice. Writers get better every thousand or so words, I believe. If we all had the same opinions and the same line of thinking about life , none of us would get very far and the world would be quite dull. If we all sat around and waited on a train, never had the schedule, we would be sitting around wasting our time waiting on a train that may never show.

If you don’t try, it is certain you will never succeed.
