Every generation thinks that they are the ones who have it all figured out and that the generation before them must really be stupid. The difference was that the boomers generation was just as naive but they didn’t have the internet to broadcast it. There is no substitute for experience and you learn when you get older that things aren’t as simple as you thought they were and that the previous generation carried a lot more wisdom than you thought. However, the millennials and Gen Z have been handed a terrible economic structure and it needs to change. Don’t blame “the boomers”. Many of us have been complaining about the policies that have caused this for a very long time.

If you want better wages, less expensive housing, student debt relief, or a more progressive tax structure, organize and work to get those things! Complaining about boomers is only a waste of time and energy.

If a person did not enter the labor force on or before 1974 you're screwed, unless you were priviledged enough to have parents, and inheritance and financial support. The financial system WAS undermined starting in 2009 to save the wealthy and the banksters. Want to reduce wealth inequality? Reduce wealth, but NO we created zero interest rates and built up federal debt to unsustainable levels that will retard growth and economic opportunity for generations, all to support the public sector union pension funds and make sure Hank Paulson and his ilk didn't lose their investments in Goldman Sachs. The federal government has been on an illegal systemic tear since the passage of the National Security Act in 1947, assasinated President Kennedy and tried to take over the Bristish and French colonial systems. Federal politicians DO lie, all the time, regardless of party affiliation. I was born in 1959, and my children are very well educated and have bright futures. The climate change issue has been vastly overstated, as has the problem with school shootings. The left denies reality and "the science" so thoroughly inpursuit of unattainable utopia's that they can't allow the fact of sex differences to be spoken of in schools. The religious right is no better, but the worst thingto happen to this country are public sector unions, especially for teachers. The people who do not already own homes, and the bottom 60% of the socioeconomic cohort are soon the be screwed even further because of the massive inflation soon to occur, on purpose, so the debt can be monetized and the federal and state governments don't default on the unsustainable retirement promises made to the unions. To the young I say leave the country and move to a non-european state where you have a chance to lead a fulfilling life. It's over for the United States.

I don’t hate Boomers. My parents are Boomers and my siblings are Gen X. I learned a lot from them. We gotta deregulate and we gotta let markets do what they need to do. Instead of making water flow where it doesn’t want to.

This is not really true. We had the Cuban Missile crisis which waIf s very real. I was told we run out of energy well face to face. Including body language; facial expression nd real voice. Nobody just vanisheed. Now you are talking then boom. Nthing and you don't know: the the other hangup? are they angry of is it a tchnical failure? This is worst for the millenials but it also hits older ones. Myy dad in in his 80s. He was sending me emails for like 2 weeks. It all went into spam. He managed to reach me and I reassured him: we are good! I gave him a bunch of other ways to reach me and told him he is very important to me. It was a mess up in a spam filter and I never ignore him. This is more possible now for millenials. Plus being hit by this social media which doesn't even say if it is real; bot or multiple accounts.

Next, they are raised to think they are both genious and victim.. Nah for most part normal people. By definition: half above; half below average at any skill. Don't give them too much of credit or blame.

They are no t much diffrent other than social raising.w

Its not just targeted at the kids. The TSA agent at US airports yelling out orders and the compliance everyone MUST follow to these barked out commands is really depressing and its obviously done to create a conditioned and compliant population. If you go to other nations, you don't see this. I only see this in the US.

I experience misplaced stochastic hate on a daily basis and expect it to soon blossom into violence against all elderly in general. People in their 20s in the US and Europe are both ignorant and brainwashed. Violence is essential to their basic diet. No generation has ever equaled their hate. Just watch.

TBH, I just look at their entire generation and say "can you just hurry up and die already so progress can actually be made for once and you stop holding the rest of us back?" I tried to have "empathy and sympathy and "be the better person" blablabla all those useless platitudes but this is 100% how I feel now.😐

This is amazing! I'm a boomer and these are all the things we protested for when I was 17. Our parents had the same opinion of us as we have of the younger generation. The drama that gen z and gen x have is propagated by the press in order to increase ratings. "Don't believe everything you hear and only half of what you see". The biggest difference between generations is that boomers have at least a basic knowledge IE what ocean is on the east coast of the U.S. But I cant name any of the Kardashians.

Provide legitimate mental health support for striggling children? Naaaaah, spend all the money terrifying them with drills.

Anyone notice how the red scare nuclear bombing drills mirror this perfectly? What is getting under your desk going to do against high caliber rounds or a nuke? Nothing. Sow fear in the populace so they can bw controlled.

Imagine if you were virtually guaranteed a secure job straight out of high school that paid around $65k plus benefits. Then imagine that housing was also about half the price it is now and far less competitive, college was about a tenth the price, and straight As with a couple Bs was good enough to get you into a top university. This was the situation for boomers when they came of age. It's the same dynamic as a spoiled child, blown up to a generational level.

The reason they’re so bitter, narcissistic and resentful is because these people had everything handed to them and chose to be bitter because of no actual struggle in their lives. Boomers would rather act nasty towards their kids instead of help their literal children

In a sense, they have been given a bill for a party they did not get to participate in. Our politicians kept ‘kicking the can down the road’ instead of fixing our financial problems. By borrowing more and more money from China and others, they are stuck, meaning the youth, of now paying the bill.

ReturnOfTheJ.D.
ReturnOfTheJ.D. - 15.08.2023 21:11

Most of the wealth today was generated post WWII. The world was a much poorer place before that. What this means is that during those first few decades (50s-90s) this vast wealth was being created - it didn't exist yet as it does today. During that creation, it was more profitable to sell houses affordably, in an environment of a much greater land-to-population ration than today (this started winding down in the 00s). It also made more sense to make education free or low cost in a world without many people with degrees relative to demand (this started winding down in the 90s). It also made sense at some point to allow mass sustained immigration, even when the unemployment rate was quite high, when businesses were struggling with high wages and needing more capital to invest in future projects.

The problem is however, at a certain point, land runs out, educated people become easier to find, and immigration lowers wages while increasing or maintaining demand for housing. The incentive to sell affordable houses, affordable education and decent wages relative to cost of living, changes as the supply-demand ratio changes with it. Today isn't an era of setting up a higher population with stable accommodation who can establish families, enough educated people to keep the economy thriving and well-paid workers. We are now in the era of charging the maximum amount for these things, or the minimum for low-skilled workers, and thereby maximising profits for those who own property, run universities and employ people. This is the modern way that wealth is built and maintained, because the things needed to build that wealth are already here now - we only need to ask the highest price for property and education that we can get, and the lowest for wages, in order to maintain our vast wealth (for those who have it).

This is not the first post-war half-century where there was low population, few educated people and not enough workers to fill basic jobs, which raised wages. Those in power now (government, banks, employers) don't need to foster the development of these things in order to grow the country's economy - or at least, not yet. As birthrates dwindle, the value of a person's labour will rise, and housing and education will once more be within their reach or grasp. The main thing countering that is mass immigration over many years, which is why the government (backed by banks and business) opens all the taps it possibly can, because if they don't, the "order of things" that has served them so well until today, will radically change with the new demographics.

No one's at at fault for another person's failure in life. The generation before had their issues as well. Wise people pull out weeds when they are small. They don't ignore them when they are small, and fail to deal with them until they tear up the driveway and break the sewer lines. The same is true with rising crime, environmental problems, and financial problems. Wise people understand that they can still live normal lives even in the presence of these threats, but that they will need to make some changes in order to squash threats that have the potential to grow much larger.
