Ranking How USELESS Tails is in Every Sonic Game

CORRECTION: You CAN play as Tails by himself in Sonic 2, he plays the same as Sonic and can’t fly, but he’s more independent than I initially thought. Still though, I’d keep him in sidekick tier.

Really insulting putting Tails not in Elite

Last year my cousin and I met Conleen O'Shangheely at Momocon 2023. It was fun.

You missed something else other than the Sonic 2 playability. I believe it's possible to get tails into Sonic and Knuckles via the lock-on technology feature with Sonic 3.
It's just a shame that not a whole lot of sonic genesis collection games join the two together like they're meant to be.

I bet some of the mistakes are that people probably forget or don't realize Tails is a male character.

Small thing to point out:
He is KINDA present in Sonic 4 Episode 1, as he pilots the rocket that takes Sonic to the final level.

Nah i'd have to disagree totally with him being useless, i love blasting through a Sonic game with Tails, i beat Sonic CD with him by using his flight ability where i couldn't get but a few levels in using Sonic, i highly recommend using him if you're struggling on a Sonic game, Tails is the sh!t imo.

FWIW Tails actually is playable in the modern ports of Sonic CD but as an unlockable after beating it.

Really though his most useless appearance ever is actually his true debut in Game Gear Sonic 2. Gets kidnapped in the opening cinema and you have to play the worst Sonic game ever with some of the most insufferable Chaos Emerald requirements to rescue him.

Sonic Adventure era Tails was definitely the peak of his character. The story of him coming out of Sonic's shadow and becoming a brave, strong, independent hero in his own right was great writing and was solidified in the second game

I think sa2 is the worst playable tails version (imo)

I genuinely think that the ranking for Sonic Adventure 2 was kinda unfair and that you should have put him in sidekick tier because I don't think that he's initially the reason how Eggman knew. I think in the game, he's just trying to make Tails feel bad. I'd give him a sidekick tier.

So many errors you can play as tails in sonic 2 just go to the settings and select tails. Also you can play as him in sonic 3& knuckles

Skipped over Sonic 3 and Knuckles version of Tails where he's every bit as good as Sonic 3's Tails but with the added bonus of becoming Super Tails.

Making a correction:

In Sonic 2, go to the options menu, select Tails as the player character.

You can play as Tails without Sonic. Can't fly, though.

You can actually play Final Horizon before beating the game, since there’s nothing stopping you from entering the ring portal, it’s just recommended that the player finishes the main campaign first, and even then I’d still consider Final Horizon part of the main story.

Incorrect about Sonic 2, you can go into the options menu and select Tails Alone.
