I'm an electrical engineering student, and everything about "having time" and "freedom" to prepare for other competitive examinations is a complete joke. Electrical engineering is called the hardest branch of engineering for a reason. Even a meagre CGPA will require an immense amount of effort from the student. So if you think you can live an easy life in EEE, please research and reconsider.

EE is vast syllabus and slightly tougher than other branches. Limited scope in private jobs at UG level . What you can do is prepare for Gate exam and secure top rank in it to get jobs in psu. Seats are very limited in psu. Diploma holders in Electric get more opportunity in government jobs. If you do masters from top IITs that too through few specific branches, you may expect a good package. Don't fall in trap of coaching teachers as they create hype unnecessarily for money. Good Luck.
