Why is Vermeer's "Girl with the Pearl Earring" considered a masterpiece? - James Earle

The reasoning is easy if you are good at picking up on spirit. This is a child portage of the wife of Jesus. She travels through time to him, and he traverses through each life looking for her. Their coming together is when the ascension will happen. That painting is a clue to him. It's not for you, me, or a museum... it's about 2 people's spiritual bonding and becoming one, but they have to find each other first. That's the child version of the bride of our Lord.

The movie they made about this painting is the best! Scarlet Johansson killed the role.

She represents it girls of those years bcs the added fake pearl and the head scarf thing are all represent rich status they want to achieve but never could. Also they colonized my country for centuries so technically the spices inspired them to be capitalistic and this created this iconic painting

Because of the owner ..In reality it's an ordinary portrait of daughter,of an artist, and no one would notice if it wouldn't reach some famous collection or museum

I dont see any big deal.

Another reason the girl in the pearl earring is timeless is that , even in modern times almost no one really poses for a photo like this. It feels like you're present in the moment . She is looking at you trying to say something. And you just fell in love with her. you can't see anything but her.

Conservatives at the Mauritshuis in The Hague discovered this painting originally had a green background that’s deteriorated over time due to the use of organic pigments. He didn’t paint her against a dark background.

She is a bear trap for humans.

It's an innocent girl that he painted innocently looking at him however on the canvas it shows that in his point of view, the girl looks alluring and slightly seductive that he really took noticed of her wet lips, her innocent yet seductive eyes and how he painted her in a dark room as if they we're hiding.

She is turning toward someone who has come up on her from another room and has said something to her. she knows rhe voice is familiar w this person, perhaps is the one she loves
There’s a lightness a carefreeness a freshness and newness to her. Life is not a burden. She is light, she is happy w her lot happy w her work. Perhaps in love too

I'm Dutch and Vermeer's "Girl with the Pearl Earring" is one of my absolute favourite paintings.

The colors and some of the facial proportions remind me of Rikku from Final Fantasy X. That's probably why I felt this painting looked interesting.

James Earle - You couldn't even get the name of the painting correct? It's "Girl with a Pearl Earring", not "Girl with the Pearl Earring". That's such a basic error of laziness and you kept repeating it throughout the video. That's an embarrassing fail which undermines your credibility about the arts and reporting in general.

I was fortunate to see this masterpiece in person years ago and it was even more captivating.

Girl With a Pearl Earring tells the story of Griet, a 16-year-old Dutch girl who becomes a maid in the house of the painter Johannes Vermeer. Her calm and perceptive manner not only helps her in her household duties, but also attracts the painter's attention.

This portrait, for me, is even more enigmatic and beautiful than Mona Lisa itself.

I'm sure that Vermeer wasn't thinking about all that's been said here, when he painted this portrait. As 'Hineininterpretierung', this can count. Like most talks about paintings.

She looks almost caught off-guard. A bit like a portrait was painted in the instant a photograph is taken. When you call someone's name and they turn their head to look at you, and you take the photo just as they face you. Her parted lips seem almost a result of surprise about to turn into a casual smile as she recognizes the observer.
