Apart from Liam Brady. West Ham look like a typical 1980's long ball outfit.

The Upton Park I remember from the 60s to the early 90s: great atmosphere and involvement standing there within a couple of yards of the pitch. What immediately strike you as different from today's top flight matches are the robust challenges allowed by the ref, and the lack of diving or faked injuries. Modern referees should have a look at these old matches, so they learn to be less complicit in all this nonsense which spoils football for me nowadays.

When you look at West Ham's team sheet that day it seems incredible that this was a relegation season. Stewart, Martin, Dicks, a young Steve Potts, Brady, Devonshire, Ince, even Alan Dickens: all players who made an impact at West Ham and/or other clubs during their careers. It is surprising that David Kelly, who lost almost every physical challenge during this match, went on to have a relatively successful career elsewhere.

When the Fa Cup was still being respected by top flight teams

Arsenal getting knocked out of the cup this early gave them the title. Norwich's Cup run cost them dearly.

I was present at both this match and the replay. What a great night at Highbury against all the odds!

As the late John Motson says "This is most peoples favourite time of the season". Sadly the FA Cup has fallen so far in statue in the modern game, as a result of the PL & CL.

Ended up in a cell in Snow hill police in the City of London station on the way to work so missed watching this game on tv on the Sunday then went to the replay to see Leroy score the winner but had me car towed away from Highbury cost me a fortune but well worth the Win

Went to both games. The replay wasn't as good and Arsenal lost . But football back then really was edgy.
