Why you gotta E chord in there? The Exact same notes next measure you call a G#
ОтветитьI often say that if Koji Kondo is the John Williams of video game music, Nobuo Uematsu is Hans Zimmer.
ОтветитьGreat analysis! Can you do one on FFX's "Wandering Flame"? That harmony always haunt me
ОтветитьBoy pulled out a Schoenberg quote for tonal music? Just crazy enough to work.
ОтветитьUematsu is the John Williams of video game music.
Kondo is the Danny Elfman of video game music
I was on a work break and when you said about tracking down Nubuo, I physically spat out my coffee in the office and looked horrified. XD Well played sir.
ОтветитьPlease do more final fantasy breakdowns there are so many amazing tunes span across all the games but maybe you could do some stuff on final fantasy 16
Ответить.
ОтветитьI love you for this, 8-Bit. Thank you times infinity to the power of infinity.
ОтветитьThis is a great analysis but there's one small problem. That's not Terra's Theme, that's World of Balance.
ОтветитьSome parts of the opera track sounds like a precursor to Aerith’s theme on FF7
ОтветитьOMG. I remember finding this video when it first came out and watched it with a coworker, who quickly turned it off because "yeah ok i get it he used the phrase again and again" and I was never able to rediscover it- till today!! So happy to find it again and give it the love it deserves!!!
ОтветитьAs a Don Giovanni theme, I can’t help but want Draco to turn out to be dead in the end, a phantom soldier come to slay the villain, freeing Maria from her arranged marriage, leaving her alone but free (with his Chocobo to escape on at least).
ОтветитьNobuo Uematsu - a man not of this world, but thankfully placed on it.
ОтветитьDude i Love you so much, Video Games Had helped me through my rough childhood and as an adult im trying to pursue my Passions eventho im not academically privilliged enough to get an deep education, you alltho Cover for my taste very deeply exactly what i love
ОтветитьThat was a fabulous intro. Run Nobuo! RUN! Is Terra really the main character? Hmm. And then the shot at Setzer. Ha. I bet he'd like that description.
ОтветитьLove FF6 and the music in the series. Had no idea he was self taught, that's amazing.
ОтветитьThese melodies are deeply imprinted on my soul. Thanks for the featured analysis!
ОтветитьThank you for keeping the music alive. The Celes song brings a tear to my eye everytime I hear it.
ОтветитьIk this is an old video and idk if you read comments on it still, but I'd love to see more extended composer analysis like this. People like Yoko Shimomura and Akira Yamaoka come to mind as fascinating subjects. Cheers on the great vids :)
Ответить200 years from now, we will still be listening to Nobuo Uematsus music.
ОтветитьThe OST of Final Fantasy 6 is video game music at it's best.
ОтветитьThe best maker of music for video games ever. Almost every piece has a memorable melody. If you take the music out of ff7 or ff9 or any ff game. It is no where near the game it is with the music. He creates these epic worlds you want to live in. Legend
ОтветитьThis is an ode to the Spaghetti Western, i.e., Ennio Morricone, and closer to home, it's feel is borrowed from The Lonely Shepherd by James Last, who worked closely with Morricone. And how do we know this? This is what the producers wanted... note Final Fantasy VI 'A Fistful of Nickels'. You can over analyze the piece if you'd like but this wasn't written with organization in mind. It was written by Usematsu's ears while trying to capture the spaghetti western feel of Morricone.
ОтветитьThe Opera scene would have been much better sounding if Square Soft hired someone to actually sing the opera but at the time Final Fantasy VI was being made, the technology was not available on a video game system to have that much processing power. Today that is not a problem.
ОтветитьNobuo Uematsu is the Einstein of Music, he knows perfectly what is doing, where the notes should be, how emotions are represented in his pieces. It's incredible and it's my favorite composer of all time.
ОтветитьI love you videos so much! Always leaves me appreciating the music even more. I studied music theory for years but I don’t use it directly for my career (though I do use the underlying systematic intellectual habits it formed). It’s nice to follow along so as to not forget.
Ответитьanyone else think this channel is pretty cool?
ОтветитьDo a whole video on 11 !
ОтветитьREPITITION LEGITIMIZES
ОтветитьYou're amazing, wonderful break-down video, just one thing: I almost spit the egg I was eating when I heard that "Aria di mezzo carattere". Accept my correction dude, the Italian language doesn't have a lot of particular accent, just pronunce the words as written in the most open and crystal clear way, the only thing you can get wrong at this point would be where the stress on a vocal is. Ok see you next time, lots of love <3
ОтветитьIt’s strange cause I hear this opera bit and tell myself it sounds like eyes on me I listen to eyes on me and melodically it’s different of course but something about the structure absolutely feels familiar as if the themes are the same even if the notes are not am I crazy
Or can I just recognize nobuo sans style after 30 years I can hardly listen to any of his music without feeling nostalgic and full of purpose
I barely have any idea what you're saying, but the few English words you throw in there I completely agree with!
ОтветитьTerra's theme sounds like an Ennio Morricone piece, love it so much
ОтветитьSo who's video game Bach then?
Ответитьthis channel is fucking incredible, thank you
ОтветитьDo a Xenogears one! :D
Ответить1 minute plus 50 seconds and you said nothing yet.
ОтветитьIt is wonderful
ОтветитьI don't know why I enjoy these types of videos, I don't understand anything about music theory.
ОтветитьHands-down, my favorite FF game of all time. This is great.
Ответитьdie hard jazz musicians and fans should read that book from schoenberg
ОтветитьI can actually understand your videos now! AAAAAAAA I love it people should just study your shit in college.
ОтветитьSo, true story: I got talking about music theory on-stream yesterday, and SEVERAL points I've learned about game music from your channel came up, @8-bit Music Theory. Had to direct people over here - I've learned so much from you! Thanks for the awesome content, and be well.
Ответитьim only watching this because i wanted to study game music for uni but im already struggling with composition in high school
ОтветитьIn the both the snes and opera version of this song the part where both men call out to Maria after their fight actually gives me that heartbreaking goosebumps feeling...
ОтветитьThat description of Setzer had me dying.
