This is why the 70's were so awesome.

They were taping a TV show at Santa Monica Civic and gave a bunch of tix to Santa Monica High school students across the street. We watched some acts on the show who were great but when ABBA came on we’d never heard of them before. We thought they were corny and the opposite of what we listened to. We gave them a few boos and jeers, and the ladies on stage were not happy. Still don’t get why people think they’re great, but to each his/her own.

ABBA has always made great music. The problem was their shitty image though. It was not considered to be cool to be a fan of them in the days of the (late) hippies, the punk and the new wave.
