Legitimately the best moment in sports history

FACTOID: Hockey was played on larger rinks in those days (as you can see) but soon after this game the powers that be decided Hockey "needed more action for tv contracts" and so they shrunk the size of the rinks down to make the game look faster for television. Sadly, this move resulted in changing the very nature of the game by removing a large component of strategy and now it's much more a game of force, chaos and chance instead of shear skill. It's still takes skill, but not as much as it once did, and really lacks strategy.

It killed my desire for the game after that.

Hey Americans – your country sux. You just copped a hiding from Australia 🇦🇺 at the FINA World Aquatics Championships. Australia 🇦🇺 finished on top of the medal tally with 13 gold medals – but you couldn't accept the result and displayed the total medal count instead. Sore losers and a bunch of cry babies. To reiterate: the USA sux. 👎

My papa was watching this game and was at the arena and he saw it all he got the idea because my papa lives in star lake ny kinda close to lake placid and he just loves hockey. Fastford to today I live in Tupper lake ny even closer to lake placid and I play can am tournaments there. I know there is prob gonna be haters saying it’s fake but they just mad they can’t play there. Ps if you do go there and see some historical stuff it’s really cool and the 2nd deck seats are still wood its pretty cool. Edit: last year I was actually in the USA locker room lucky locker room 5 and it looks so old and if you go down their theirs the famous herb brooks quote outside the locker. Today it’s still use for college hockey it’s a league called ecac hockey and they play the semi finals and finals there.

Billy Mills win in the 1964 Tokyo 10,000 meters is a bigger moment for me.

As someone who got into hockey in the 2010s, I love watching old hockey games. I feel as if games were much faster pace than it is now. Less stoppages so the game went on smoothly.
