Its not as simple as "church bad cause want power" youre right the people then were very very spiritual, including the Christians. Hecate's role as the Maiden, the Matron, and the Crone shows that she is not evil at all. Of those three roles, one is a caretaker, one can be a temptress but also a friend, and the third meets out just punishment. None of them are evil, but all can be if you displease her.

I'm a Christian witch. I use God and Jesus as my idols and I also have been chosen by Hecate to help me with my craft. I ask for her power as well as God and Jesus but I don't worship her. I don't idolise her. But I know all of them help. I can do magic without using conditions for magic like time of day star alignment, moon phases.
