I can't respect Octavian after he went gay. What a joke compared to Caesar.
ОтветитьTradução em português por favor
ОтветитьSensacional
Ответитьanyone remember when caesar called sulla a political amateur and then got stabbed to death by a bunch of people he pardoned
ОтветитьI was there that day this is exactly how it went down
ОтветитьCoup d’etat.
ОтветитьOctavian pulled a Vader "I am altering the deal. Pray that I do not alter it further".
ОтветитьSome comments here about Game of Thrones. The terrible showrunners of GoT should really have watched Rome for Dany's story and used Octavian becoming Augustus as the template to show the journey from idealism mixed with pragmatism and a sense of entitlement to ruthless authoritarianism. Imagine Dany staring down on Jon or Tyrion with a cold "step away from my throne."
ОтветитьI want a legion 🗡️🏛️🏟️
ОтветитьCicero thought he had made a consul, but you can see the moment when he realizes he's made an emperor.
ОтветитьAmazingly, I dug up a coin of Octavian recently.
ОтветитьCicero was a femboy
ОтветитьHavent seen this but going to watch it
ОтветитьMRGA
Ответить"How to turn into an empire"
Tutorial for republics.
What a brillant show
ОтветитьBloody senator Palpatine
ОтветитьThis brings to mind another similar scene where a Republic becomes an Empire. With thunderous applause.
ОтветитьGood chance something similar will happen in the US soon enough.
ОтветитьSurprising and disappointing that the filmmakers chose to make the Curia Julia senate building oval. Not only is it rectangular but it's the only fully intact building that's survived to this day in the Roman Forum.
Ответитьand while this was taking place, the rest of the world was still building mud-huts
ОтветитьDOWN WITH BRUTUS AND CASSIUS!!!!!
ОтветитьThis is what I want to do in my thesis defense.
ОтветитьOne of my biggest gripes with HBO (before they went all woke and made shows no one wants to watch), was cancelling Rome. It was a trailblazer for other "historical shows" to come from Deadwood to the Boardwalk Empire, blending fictional characters with historical ones.
ОтветитьAnd.. is it not possible that these actors who so artfully portrayed this scene should be actually NAMED and RECOGNIZED for their work ...?
Ответить"MY FATHER DIED ON THIS FLOOR. RIGHT THERE." I don't know if the real Octavian ever said that but he SHOULD'VE...
ОтветитьAnd thus Augustus was born
ОтветитьAntony had been looking for an excuse to kill Cicero.....and so...
ОтветитьOctavian AKA Caesar Augustus was brilliant he created a legal political frame for Rome that lasted 450 years and even morons like Caligula Nero and Commodus could not destroy it
ОтветитьNight of the long knives is coming to the USA.
ОтветитьThe "Republic" is a failure, from Rome to now. It barely ever reflects the people and doesn't stop tyranny. With that known, it is better to have a Ceasar. At least then there is decisive action, a tie to the people and land, and you only have to worry about one central entity rather than thousands when things become unbearable.
ОтветитьA civilisation more advanced the modern Africa.
ОтветитьWhy they speak in a British accent? Why not just an Italian accent to be somewhat more authentic?
ОтветитьOne of the most underrated tv shows of all times.
ОтветитьDon Vito Corleone and Luca Brasi made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
ОтветитьSo much for the Republic and peace..
Ответитьa speech like this and they can't make it in Latin ?...
ОтветитьDid the Romans use Italian hand gestures when they speak?
ОтветитьThis scene never happened.
ОтветитьWe could use someone like Augustus in the whitehouse today.
ОтветитьJulius Caesar is responsible for killing about a million Gauls, all for personal money and glory. He used the money to become the first dictator and end the republic of Rome. Read his history Conquest of the Gauls. It's a horror story.
ОтветитьDo read October Horse and Antonius and Cleopatra by Colleen McCullough. Superb novels, Well researched, about the rise and rivalries of Octavian.
ОтветитьAll said and done, servants should address their master in the vocative : "Domine", not "Dominus".
ОтветитьRomans were a bunch of slave owning, murderous savages
ОтветитьFuture leaders would model themselves after Julius Cesar, but I'd argue that they've been modeling themselves after Octavian just as much.
ОтветитьI miss this show.
Ответитьprimus inter pares
ОтветитьI was expecting "The Roman Republic will be re-organized into the FIRST GALACTIC EMPIRE for peace and security" and Octavian ""Oh boy, this is a good idea"
Ответить
