One of my biggest gripes with HBO (before they went all woke and made shows no one wants to watch), was cancelling Rome. It was a trailblazer for other "historical shows" to come from Deadwood to the Boardwalk Empire, blending fictional characters with historical ones.

And.. is it not possible that these actors who so artfully portrayed this scene should be actually NAMED and RECOGNIZED for their work ...?

Julius Caesar is responsible for killing about a million Gauls, all for personal money and glory. He used the money to become the first dictator and end the republic of Rome. Read his history Conquest of the Gauls. It's a horror story.

Do read October Horse and Antonius and Cleopatra by Colleen McCullough. Superb novels, Well researched, about the rise and rivalries of Octavian.

All said and done, servants should address their master in the vocative : "Domine", not "Dominus".

Future leaders would model themselves after Julius Cesar, but I'd argue that they've been modeling themselves after Octavian just as much.
