There is no real controversy here, it is just media pundits trying to create drama. First of all, Checo couldn't possibly expect that Max would slow down. Second, when both cars are running well, there is no way Checo will post the fastest lap over Max. Both drivers put in a great performance.
The only weird thing was Jos Verstappen's behavior after the race. Throwing shade on Checo is a chump move.

The title of this video is misleading and ignoring the fact that "Marko" is not always truthful - especially when it comes to Max. Truth is not his goal. Winning Max the championship is his goal.

I just hate red bull. Christian Horner is a cry baby and a cheat, so is Marco. Max is no better. He thinks red bull revolves around him. It's sickening. You can't believe a word any of them say. Jos is just as bad. He was as bad when he was a crap driver.

What can someone gain from lying, when you can go back and listen to both in car audio. They were BOTH told they were free to push. Perez showed why he is not the number 1 driver, as he wasted his last lap. Max didn't waste his last lap. What do people think, a team mate is supposed to back out of their fastest lap attempt, because the other driver screwed his lap up? This sport is filled with butt hurt crybabies. Can't forget the one team that is always a sore loser. They were sore winners too, as they always try to get teams penalized for the next race!

Every time there is a "misunderstanding" at Red Bull, the person with an advantage is always Max.

They might have the best car for now, but with this behaviour they will not have a good team, at least not for long.

They should start thinking about the replacement for Max in the future but they seem just treating the "other driver" just like an obedient servant of Max instead of building confidence in him...

The problem is people don't know what real competition is anymore. Max is a reminder of what it looks like and just how ruthless competition can be. If you don't have the same mindset as him then you better have all the other advantages or you're going to be on the back foot.. Michael Jordan had this same mentality in the NBA and just like Max now he had all the ability too and it just put him above all the rest. Once he got a decent team around him, it was all over for the rest of the league.

Checko is great but he can not outperform Max on same day in same car at same conditions both fully at 100%. Max is simply better driver.

Both were not free to push. The team had the chance of losing the race do to the engine problems. The team decided to let Checo push when they saw Max do whatever he wanted, even though he was told not to.

Just can't trust Max and the team. It all sounds like they are just protecting Max.

Come on Marko, we can hear the radio messages, too. Checo was only told that he was free to push because both drivers had been told to ease up and Max refused to listen, so of course checo’s engineer wasn’t going to hold him there and just let Max catch him while Checo was obeying orders and Max wasn’t. When Max realized that he wasn’t going to be able to catch checo, only then did he is off to prep for a fastest lap.

It is obvious that the team always tries to favor max, race after race with the race orders against peres, it is a shame they do not give the same opportunity to checo as to max to make a fair play, regardless of popularity and affinity of the fans of one or another pilot. unfortunately in the end the circus is just trying to make money.
