Atlanta joins commemoration of the 10 Year Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake & Tsunami

The City of Atlanta Mayor's Office of International Affairs Director, Vanessa Ibarra, joins the Japan-America Society of Georgia in commemorating the 10 Year Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. On March 11, 2011, the earthquake and tsunami took the lives of nearly 20,000 people, destroyed 200,000 homes, and forced the evacuation of 400,000 individuals. Ten years on, the City of Atlanta remembers and honors all who were affected.

On behalf of Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Vanessa provides a message of hope and remembrance and pays tribute to the strength, resiliency, and resurgence of our friends in Japan.
