I once had a German Shepherd. The dog was very protective of my wife. We used to walk her on a college campus. Problem was that she would go nuts if my wife went into a building to used the rest room. People thought I was abusing her as we waited, but she was simply protecting her mama!

I have a hard time trusting people who don't like dogs but tend to trust a dog when it doesn't like a person or at least view them with suspicion.

Several decades ago, I watched a demo by a brand new K9 team inside a roped off area. As the crowd dissipated after the demo, another officer came out of the police station. As he stepped over the rope to deliver a written message, the K9 started growling. The handler said "You better not come any closer, he doesn't like cops!". The officer glanced at the paper, said "Call your wife" and hightailed it back inside. 😂

This breed of canine are so smart, but also all the way around great. Great with kids, protection, territorial, guarding and personality. It can be more of an aggressive dog, but overall the best we had on our farm growing up.

In the real world, it is natural for people to be afraid of dogs because of the threat to life or bodily damage they pose. Unfortunately in most cases of police dog attacks on suspects innocent or not the police did not control the police dog whether he meant it or not. Dogs don't think like humans they automatically see a suspect as a threat and their instinct is to attack to defend. It is natural to be nervous when a police officer is stopping you especially if he has a dog. A dog naturally is able to sense your emotions as well as that of the police officer. If the dog picks up negative senses coming from the Police officer he will think you are a threat to the Police Officer. Dogs also respond to shinny objects they naturally interpret as animal eyes shining in the dark and can easily misinterpret them to mean you are a threat and act upon that. Citizens need to be trained to respond to Police Officers and their police dogs. Both dogs and humans make mistakes and it can be the differences between life or death.
