When British comediens imitate American accents they sound horrible. But you actors are another story. Though, I heard a bit of 30s movies in Bonneville's accent. Dockery got the California sound perfectly. And Leech.... well he is adorable in any accent.

My overanalysis:
None of these actors speak with an American accent normally, only when playing a character. To make the accent convincing on the fly, especially with prescripted dialogue, they conjured some American character in their minds that would say this dialogue and read it like they would.
“Read it like x American character would” is a lot easier than “read it like a character you’ve been playing for years would, except change all the pronunciations” when working on your feet.
