People forget that forgiveness can happen from a safe distance. Also, the extended family members so keen to criticize OP for not being willing to disrupt her life to help the betrayer are never willing to inconvenience themselves. None want to risk their marriages by getting too entangled with the traitor. Nor have they collectively even bothered to do a whip round to fundraise for the couple in trouble. Getting those who love to point fingers to do any heavy lifting themselves is almost impossible.
