SOLAR CHIMNEY || passive heating and cooling system || how it works

I suppose for the chimney to work you have to let it without insulation, what about winter days with no sun, will it not be a huge cold spot? or do you close someway the openings to the building? depending the extra cost to build it, it maybe better to get some solar panels to help with AC bills with hitting and cooling.

The real use of an updraft plant might be providing ventilation for a whole city. Just build the city around the tower.

Warm humid air entering into the system would result in a great deal of condensate which would have to be removed. And I'd be concerned with air quality due to creating an ideal environment for mold in the piping. Modern heat pumps appear to be the way to go due to their efficiency.

Depending wind directions the chimney should have channel’s and a downdrop for debris to fall down to and not in the rooms or channel’s themselves. Just like a “Grundofen” where the heat is forced down to heat an entire thermal mass of 3 stories when placed in center. So like an medieval arabic architecture would do. With one system to cool or to heat.

That said, if you live in near the equator, say Florida for example, the ground can be 72-77°F meaning it probably won’t have enough time to cool the air to about the same temperature.
