Thanks for your list. I find myself in a position where I have seen about 2/3 of the films on your list. I loved Aftersun, Banshees of Inisherin, the Batman, and appreciated the Northman, and Triangle of Sadness. But had to stop watching Top Gun Maverick and Everything everywhere all at once : I find these films repetitive, naive, predictible and in the end boring. Wouldnt touch Avatar with a barge poll after watching the first one.

The Northman was bad, and most movies of the last few years are total garbage.. I don't know what you are talking about. The Batman was terrible.. Wakanda Forever was a joke. Maverick was just ok. And the mysteries of our existence are not answered in anything but God Himself.

An add for The Epoch Times came on after your video. I don't know if they sponsor your channel, but if they do, you should dump them immediately. They are known by fact checkers and media bias watch dogs for publishing stories with very low reliability (i.e., misinformation, disinformation). They skew heavily to the right, and, although they deny it, evidence shows they are affiliated with the right wing, nationalist, religious movement Falun Gong. Having them as your sponsor runs contrary to your expressed theme about finding stillness amidst modern-day noise and chaos.

I like your writing. You are eloquent and can talk about movies in an engaging way. However, while in matters of taste, there can be no disputes, I want to say that I find no. 1 on your list is insufferable, and I couldn't disagree more with placing it at the top. Surely the chaotic form and pacing are used intentionally, but it ended up being abusive to the viewer.
And this is coming from somebody who occasionally appreciates difficult directors like von trier or lynch.

Im so lost with EEAAO, i agree with everyone of your points, and i thought you would be the only person that wouldnt get this movie as i didnt get it, but it looks like im the only one. Maybe where i was in my life, it was already so clear that only calm and silence can give you what noise can't that this movie just felt like a big pile of noise that didnt have anything to teach me, idk

Decision to Leave the best film of the year in my opinion

unfortunately EEAAO for me is too close to my own life in a bad way. where my mother works her life to the failure while my father didn't do a damn thing. it bothered me so much that the dad figure is not even helping with the tax and work and took me out of a movie that i should enjoy otherwise

Top Gun Maverick is my second favourite film from 2022. It may not be as highly regarded in artistic circles, simply because it is a franchise film and an all out action blockbuster. I watched this in cinemas, no excitement going in, no love for the first film, and I was blown away. The film is so emotionally deep and the final fight scene left me on the edge of my seat. My favourite film would be Everything Everywhere All At Once. When I saw this film, I didn't know if I liked it or not, but when I reflected on it, I realised that this is an amazing, beautiful film. It is my 2nd favourite film of all time (behind Bong Joon Ho's masterpiece Parasite).

Tar was an unusual concept. The alphabet people are almost invariably portrayed in an extremely positive light in all of cinema these days. It is rather refreshing to see a powerful lesbian being a piece of shit for once. The way hollywood was going about it they were one step shy of proclaiming you need to be gay to be admitted into paradise.
