1970s Fashion Fads!

As a teen in the 1970's, I as a male had hair over my ears.

You missed cheesecloth shirts, polo neck jumpers, crochet gilets and love beads!😄

I loved the 70s. My hair was feathered or my mom cut it into a surf. And I used strawberry lipsmackers. Yummy.

Gad, I cringe every time now whenever I look at old family photos or my high school year book and see just how goofy we all looked back then. Thank goodness I joined the Navy right after graduation and got my head out of my ass!

No fatties like people today..

Maybe it's just me who feels that way. But for the times in the past you can say exactly or almost exactly that these styles are for example typically 60s or these styles are typically 70s etc. Today in 2024 or the last few years there are no typical styles. Yes, there are always trends or styles that are popular. But not as pronounced and noticeable as before.
But thats just what I feel.

My FAVORITE shoes, which weren't mentioned, were "Kalso Earth Shoes"... I had about 10 different pairs, and even wore the burlap bag they were sold in as a purse!

Oh, Hell NO. Even as a very little kid back then, I don't remember seeing anyone dressed quite that bad/Awful/ Goofy/lame.

What about Duffle coats and desert boots? don't they rate a mention?

Oh I loved the 70s and I loved the Fashion and let’s not forget the fabulous Music .. we used to buy mens jeans as no womens jeans and we put them on and sat in a bath of cold water to shrink them to size lol ..was in Art collage doing fashion lol

I loved the concerts in the 70’s and early 80’s. I graduated high school in 1976, bicentennial class. Everyone and everything was so much better in the 70’s. Life was good.

To have a punk stile you need to weight less of 60 kg and sometimes the clothes and acsesories weight more than the body that carry them... Sex d®°°°°$ and rock was the theme

you missed some very common important styles , most likely because you weren't there. Girls in the late 70s wore DITTOS ! Dittos butts drove guys nuts ! as well as some other benefits ( for guys eyes) especially with a halter or tube top. dudes wore wallabies or waffle stompers. plaid over shirts on top of T-shirts was common , with bell bottom jeans . Most common Dudes wouldn't be caught dead in a leisure suit.

Thanks. Watching this, I was overcome with.... embarrassment. Yikes did we look silly, back then.
But, if EVERYBODY dresses like a clown, nobody notices. At least nobody wanted to openly admit it.
Very much enjoyed this trip back in time (While sitting at home, dressed VERY comfortably)

Did it mention earth shoes? I had a pair, as well as platform( sometimes called moon) shoes.All of it is long gone now.

Leather watch bands and wide leather belts were also popular. I noticed vests and corduroy pants are making a comeback while walking through the mens wear section the other day.

In the second half of the 70s asa teenager, one of my favorite was - a girl wearing hot pants with a tube top.

Tube tops…oh wow! I’d forgotten those. I’m so glad some things go out of style!

We had high gas prices, high inflation, gas shortages, conflict with Iran, Russia, North Korea, and China. The more it changes, the more it stays the same.

I had a white halter top always tie those things in a knot- I learned that the hard way at a bar And some drunk untied me 😬

Jumpsuits were a real pain when you had to go to the bathroom. You had to undress! What about the girl's "shirt" tops that snapped at the crotch to keep them smooth instead of pulling out if jeans/skirts? Had a few of these.

OMG those leisure suits and hang glider winged collars. SO glad they went away.

No fatties or very few. I'd like that to comeback.

Was a fun look back. I'm surprised that Wallabee shoes were not mentioned in the video. Everyone I knew was wearing them in the 70s along with their bell bottom pants.

We ate anything in front of us and yet were thin. We were active all the time. So sad seeing so many fatties now in their teens and 20's. Best years wasted online instead of living.

Flairs were bad for your health ' my mum got me a stripy pair ' crazy & ugly ' i fell of my bike more times ' when i was 5-7 yrs old ' they used to get caught up in the chain 🤣🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
