Which equinox?

I’ve been using the equinox 800 for a couple years now. But I just ordered a Legend. My curiosity is just killing me.

I appreciate everything you’ve done to teach us about this metal detector and showing the steps for your thought process trying to get it working.

It’s my honest opinion though, that any metal detector, especially one somewhat marketed towards a beginner group, that requires a bunch of setting tweaks and serious research into its inner functions (especially for a detecting veteran like you) just to use it accurately, is a bad product.

I understand Nokta is about saving money on a competitive product, but if the extra money I spend on a different brand gets it to actually work correctly out of the box, I’ll say it’s money well spent.

Guess if I get the Legend, I wont be finding those target ID of 90 (Quarters)
#1 Do you think its a drawback to only have a target ID of 1-60 vs the Simplex 1-99 ?
#2 Now that you have used the Legend for a while,(and with firmware updates) does it recover small gold objects similarly to the Equinox ? I'm ready to upgrade.

I'd love to see a Legend video with the LG30 coil. Beach and or inland. I've heard that it fixes target separation issues of the stock coil and the target ID I know is also good.

I have a request. There seems to be a rather vocal group of hunters who are pushing using The Legend inland in single frequency only. Their pitch is that multi is too noisy and lacks depth. To me this seems to defeat the purpose of multi-frequency. Assuming you have installed the latest update, how about taking The Legend to your trashy NY park and trying both single and multi? Maybe it's due to your being a teacher, but you have a different approach and mindset when it comes to these sort of comparisons and I think a lot of people would like to know your thoughts on the subject.

A good trick that i learned with the simplex, is to manually ground balance on beach mode to zero. And than put the setting on park mode 2! Also lower the sensitivity 25% +/-. Again this counts for the Nokta Makro Simplex+. Maybe this also works for the Legend.....?

In conclusion, do you prefer the Legend or the Equinox 800 overall at the beach for wet And dry now that you've had some months under you belt?

Sorry but this machine sounds like an absolute pain in the pass. I was on the fence between this and NOX 700. Sorry I will pay more for a minelab to not deal with any of these issues. There is a reason the legend is cheaper and its not because the company doesn't want to make more money.

Why would it false under multifrequency? Unless your sense is cranked all the way

Small tiny gold is a waste of time like ear ring studs or tint chain. in fresh water with cobles or small stones it's hard digging so I'm looking for gold that's 2 grams in weight or heavier yes light weight gold adds up . But wearing myself out digging for it and it usually is a tiny piece of foil IS NOT WORTH IT . I will check out a small gold rang target if it's a deeper read on the depth scale . But otherwise no I don't like digging for small gold targets I hardly dig Penny's or dimes . Why ! My time is limited and I'm a old man . My minelab buddy calls me a surface picker but most of the jewelry we find in northern mi is within 6 to ten inches . And us Garrett guys have all blown him out of the water with gold finds . So much that he's purchased Garrett detectors even after having all those minelabs I have a equinox but IM Purchasing a legend ! Why !, because we are heavy water hunters lake and rivers and I need somthing more robust like the Legend that probably won't leak . Yes the equinox is the best at multi frequency and minelab has harnessed this multi power with excellent precision. It's a calm machine compared to the Legend. But that's not everything. I'm not wasting time digging little POSSIBILITIES OR Gold TARGETS THAT DONT WEIGHT .ENOUGH TO WASTE THE STRENGTH . YOU ASKED . LOVE YOUR VIDEOS ALOT GOOD LUCK .MERLIN YOUR ARE PROBABLY THE BEST .

Seems like you have to manipulate settings to get it to act like a nox which to me anyway is too much time.
