The whole point about using knives instead of guns is the shields, but you can't use shields on Arakis because it drives the worms crazy. Why don't they just shoot it out?

Fight scenes should be like this. No shaky cam, and no quick cuts, just a clear shot of people fighting with excellent combat prowess.

Absolutely pathetic

A rare miss in a film with otherwise phenomenal CGI. The face especially looks noticeably fake and CG, but this whole scene feels floaty and weirdly animated compared to the live action sword fights earlier in the film.

Seeing some fremen dying by the sardaukar really shows how much of a challenge they are if the fremen were up against other houses they would've been defeated them within minutes but the sarkaur can actually give them a real fight

these flips and corkscrews look so gd stupid especially if you've ever actually done knife/sword fighting etc. hollywood fans are degenerates

Worse possible way to hold a blade. Takes away almost all attack and defense possibilities. Hammer downward strikes are finishers that could be just as easily performed in traditional hold

Where are the shields?

One thing I dont get is why the armies of dune dont use battle formations, they seem to just clash and everyone does their own thing.

As a Filipino i'm thankful for the philippine influences in this movie, from the fighting style (kali), crysknife (moro kris knife), and the guerrilla warfare of the fremen against the sardaukar/harkonen akin to the resistance movements in the philippines against japan during world war 2. This film is a masterpiece and shows non western cultures beautifully

Watching this rn and remembering that Chani and Paul both dues in dune messiah so that thier children Leto and ghanimi will take over his empire is crazy…oops, spoilers🤣

Imagine that humanity has become so advanced that we reverted back to hand to hand combat instead of using projectile weapons. Brilliant, Frank Herbert was truly a genius.

These were not Fedaykin, the Fremen were capable of killing Sardaukar before the Atredies even showed up. Also the Fedaykin were just Paul’s personal bodyguard on the events on Dune, only after in the jihad across the solar systems the were built up into his commandos.

I don't get why they don't use rifles here. I know they can't use shields because it attracts the sandworms, so why won't they just shoot?

I understand why they make freman lose to sardaukar but in the books freman were only loosing maybe one or two to equivalent or greater numbers of sardaukar

Watching Paul just slice through Sardaukar like a hot knife through melting butter is just insanely satisfying for some reason.
