The funny thing is most pirates back in the day stole cargo. If they were lucky they could get their hands on Spanish treasure ships loaded with gold and silver (although they were heavily guarded), but most of the time they went after merchant ships that usually transported goods (such as food, tobacco, alcohol etc) which pirates would then fleece on the black market.

The One Piece prequel looks neat.

Where I used to live I'd see people with metal detectors from time to time and think "you'll never find anything." Then in a field, I had passed every single day as a kid one of them found a 1000-year-old treasure hoard. It was so weird to think it had been sitting there all the time. But also that hundreds of people with metal detectors had missed it throughout the years.
Of course, I live in the UK where people really did bury shit when various people came to kill them or when the Romans had to leave and they hoped they'd get back to it.
