On behalf of all Armenians, sorry for that awful incident that you've witnessed with that miserable family. Thank you for sharing your experience and God bless you dear Kate. Greetings from Armenia.

Yes, we (Armenians) definitely have our fair share of rotten tomatoes, but fortunately, you were able to overcome those horrible first impressions and not let them poison your heart towards Armenia and Armenians as a whole. Not easy to do!!!

What a beautiful video, my mom had a saying in Armenian when someone would give her a compliment, that it is the beauty in your eyes that sees it. And so it is. Thank you for the lovely profession of your experience, for your love and for your interest. It is when non-Armenians appreciate the culture that Armenian culture is protected from distortion or extinction. I’m a western dialect speaker, and my version is an endangered language. Yes, if you ever go to Venice, you will enjoy the Armenian island of San Lazzaro, a virtual step back into ancient Armenian history. Սիրով՝։

I am sorry for your experience, this is really rare and I promise you that there’s people horrible like them in every culture. Those are just jerks who’s that disrespectful. You’re both unlucky about the neighbors but lucky that you met the true Armenians. Much love ❤️, from a Syrian-Armenian.

Thank you Ekatirina for sharing your story. I'm so sorry that you experienced an awful behaving Armenian family. Unfortunately there are awful behaving and bad people in any culture around the world. And I agree with you, we cannot judge an entire culture by a few terrible group of people in a particular culture. And there are also good and beautiful people in any culture. Regarding languages, there are so many beautiful languages in the world, and when you study a new language, it opens up a whole new journey....all the best to you.

Wow what an amazing story. What you went through with that Armenian family for 10 years sounds like actual hell (and yes, very unusual), and yet you were brave enough to be willing to have your mind changed despite all of it. I am very honored that you are learning our language and I hope you can reach the level you want to reach! Love from America

I grew up speaking Armenian in my home, I speak Armenian now, I grew up as an Armenian in Los Angeles. I always thought we were very hospitable, but when I visited Armenia 2 years ago only then I understood the hospitality of my people. I'm so sorry you had to go through that horrible experience during your childhood. Thank you for sharing your journey!

Hi Kate :) This is a very inspiring story, thank you for sharing.
When it comes to languages, I felt a strong dislike towards French for years and years. I didn't like how it sounded, I actually found it annoying. Until all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, last year I noticed a complete shift. French grew on me so much that I started to learn it and am still enjoying my self-teaching course. Who would have thought? :)

I didn't like Spanish, partly cos my family went there on holiday when I was little and I never liked holidays and would rather have been at home. Then in 2011 I started a languages degree and I needed to pick two out of German, Spanish, and French and I didn't like the sound of French. When I started learning Spanish I came to really like it, and now the "lispy" sound that used to annoy me is my favourite thing about it. And recently I've started on French which is a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I only want reading ability in French, though, so I'm not too bothered about not being able to understand it spoken.

I am happy to hear your story madam, I am also learning Armenian but my main problem is that I have a lack of motivation, I am ethnically Armenian but haven’t have that opportunity to speak it, I am trying my best to learn it, any tips??
