There's nothing genius about mounting a cannot on tracked vehicle. It's the obvious solution to eliminating a towed cannon.
ОтветитьThe dictionary definition is one thing. But, I think that in this case Paladin is a reference to the appropriately named TV show "Have Gun Will Travel" Since that is a good description of this piece of equipment.
ОтветитьWatching your older videos. You've come a long way in a year. First time I heard the cheesy background music. Glad you stopped using it.
ОтветитьEverything sounds good to me! Go get'em!!!
ОтветитьM109 can’t compare to state of the art mobile artillery used by allies comperd to the panzerhaubitze 2000 or the Archer it’s prehistoric slow moving and slow firing terrible for shot & scoot that’s why in Ukraine they are being destroyed faster than they can be replaced
ОтветитьShoot, scoot, move, and communicate
ОтветитьIf I owned shares in companies that make and sell vehicles - I would hope they tell everyone we have much better ones to sell you!!!!
ОтветитьI do believe that having a vehicle with a fixed turret (similar to a tank destroyer) would be significantly cheaper.
ОтветитьB-52 goes "scoff". If it works, why change it? With the constant upgrades, it isn't outdated, hardly even dated. It's a working solution for something that need to be done. And is good at it.
ОтветитьI would have loved to seen the Army and the Marine corps field the Crusader....
ОтветитьYep, given all the enlisted i've known, none of them ever sounded like that, even if they had to. Hmm, maybe i should've gotten then one of those word of the day calendar...obviously your buddy has put it to good used...or he used grammarly
ОтветитьHow well does the ear plugs or headset or whatever, really work?
ОтветитьYou really need to check your stats.
ОтветитьI worked on the 198, triple7, paladin and 119. With more time on the triple 7. Buy I enjoyed my time 9n the paladin. The guys that were on it longer than me always said they wished we had more range and an auto rammer. It's time for a new tracked howitzer to keep up with the rest of the world's militaries
ОтветитьDoesn't anyone remember the western TV series back in the late 50s and early 60s called Paladin? It featured a professional gunfighter who always wore all black and his motto was, are you ready for this: "Have Gun, Will Travel." Bingo! I don't care how you cut it, that's where the M109 eventually got its name, and it couldn't have been more appropriate!
ОтветитьIn 1969 at Ben Het i had a M109 battery colocated with us they helped us take on 2 NVA divisons. 2nd 9th Arty, 4th ID what a great weapon.
Ответить1/178FA 1987-1992. The atmosphere in there could get REALLY pungent after several days in MOPP2 thru 4, no showers, and eating only MRE's. Good times.
ОтветитьDirect fire scares you into retreat, huh? I guess you never fired a 109 in Nam against human waves direct firing the pleshette round. Maybe you've never even been in one or you'd know the 109 is very capable of direct fire, effective, too. You're a joke.
ОтветитьBa ca existe depuis longtemps !! ,we have more efficience canon french Army !!!😂😂❤
ОтветитьDo the 13B’s work on these?
ОтветитьSpare Parts Army . . . how about a video on the RAMJET 155?
ОтветитьDrones and loitering munitions make these things vulnerable. US has some work to do ^^
ОтветитьХорошая боевая машина
ОтветитьAt least 24 out of 80 M109 and 55 out of 170 M777 have been damaged or destroyed in Ukraine.
Ответить1ID-1-5FA, oldest military unit. We had/have the most army streamers on the battalion flag, company unit, operate the M109 and it's awesome.
ОтветитьPersonally, I believe artillery is an excellent combination of firepower and low cost. Back in 1983, I was deployed in West Germany at the 1/9th FA 8" (203mm) Self Propelled M110. Not long after my arrival, one of our gun batteries "Charley", got the brand new MLRS system. The MLRS was bad ass and so was the 8", especially during direct fire missions. Good times.

The length of the barrel of the M1299 looks comically long,
ОтветитьI had an opportunity of seeing live fire
ОтветитьFan of this vehicule, i wish mexico create some vehicules like this
ОтветитьM 150 a8 insansiz zırhlı lastik paletli obus 155.58 kalibreli obus topu enterge ettim etkili menzili 180km azmi mevzil 270km zırhlı kulesini 30mm 1namlulu makinalı topu enterge ettim 1500kw lazer topu enterge ettim insansı robot pilotlar kullanacak
ОтветитьNorth Korea is proud when one of it's missiles gets off the launchpad.
The USA military took an artillery piece from WW2 and started shooting missiles out of the air, because cannon rounds are cheaper.
It would be amazing if that’s exactly how he thought of a cannon on a tank. Seems like an idea to come up when drinking with friends 😂
ОтветитьSo the M1299 is to use the Bradley and now the Army is getting rid of the Bradly. Go figure although I'm sure the Bradlys will be around for a while and I would think they have plenty of parts
ОтветитьHamilton’s own here 1-5-D
ОтветитьI loved the ideal of Direct fire. I did one in Korea up at the DMZ in 1967. About 5 miles away and what an awesome shot that was! But it was blamed on the ROK Army because a GI was not allowed to do that. It was an M110 8". The M109 in Vietnam was a bad dude, and if you were smart enough, you could reload and be ready to fire in 90 seconds. This was in 1968 up at the DMZ.
ОтветитьFire a Copperhead round with a charge 7 redbag. Gun would slide back several feet even with spades down. As a driver, I felt like a pinball whenever those rounds were fired.
Ответитьdont retire it, just make it modern and give it a bigger g u n
ОтветитьF for ERCA
ОтветитьWhy do I consistently see depictions of self-propelled artillery firing with a Turret aimed laterally instead of inline with the direction of travel... anyone would assume you have better recoil control that way?
ОтветитьIf it's not broke don't fix it improve it
ОтветитьHello, first, great vid! I actually clicked on it thinking "Let's see what this idiot has to say" Totally proved me wrong! So sorry! I'm a former (and always) SPC-4, 3 ID, 5/41 FA '90 - '92. For my fellow 13 Bang Bangs out there, I've never been more scared than using a dog bone to change a road wheel! I miss the Army every day, thanks for the memories. Here's to Mother Sill!
ОтветитьI love the way he doesn't even pretend to rerecord and edit out the telepromt reading errors. I salute your hutzpa, sir.
ОтветитьWhy do I always see mobile artillery firing with the turret sideways (on the 3/9 o' clock)??
Why not fire directly in line with the direction your vehicle is pointing so it minimizes the rocking action?
My dad drove this when the usmc used them
ОтветитьIt seems to me that our artillery is ridiculously outdated compared to a bunch of other countries. Not surprising with the bureaucracy in our military industrial complex
ОтветитьOutdated. 1.33 rpm is very bad when spgs like the K9 can fire at 8 rpm, or a burst of 3 shells in 15 seconds. Not to mention things like MRSI.
ОтветитьThis is an awesome piece
ОтветитьIt is very slow , it is a dinosaur, it is extinct.
ОтветитьThe M109 can be air ttansported with the C17. True shoot and scoot capability.
ОтветитьHey Spare Parts Army! Thanks for watching, great big Hooah.
What're your thoughts on the M109 Self Propelled Peace Cannon, do you have any experience with it?
