He was my favorite I was fortunate and strung out enough to see the last 5 shows . Made it back to my crappy job and un eventful birthday on the 25 th , and the next day He was Gone .

The end of the Greatful Dead as I saw it. Yeah, I know I spelled that wrong.
The Greatful dead died with this show. Now that he is gone, I will say Brent was always my favorite. 1990 was the full inswing of glamster part time tourists, full of gate crashing and trash leaving destruction in their wake. The Rainbows heart was dieing, Heroine was winning and terrorism was gaining it's hold. It was not only the feds and Reagan's arm of oppression and paranoia, but the gangs, the newly created drug lords and the terrorists fueled by the huge amounts of money they were making off of the American people from the war on drugs. The USA government turned a love fest into a money machine supporting hate and wars. The Grateful Dead and its followings became the fodder of war with it's sperm tossed in the gutter and it's love in the sink. The "so called heads" were even throwing hate at Brent in the years before brent died. They were screaming very unkind things at the stage, holding sings that spread decent and it wore on the band to see the hate brewing in the crowd. Phil raged at what he saw and indeed left eventually. I saw 1 particularly large sign that was telling brent to shut up and stop overpowering Jerry. Bob almost stopped a show from a note tossed on the stage against Brent. It wore on the band and especially Brent. After Brents death, everything changed. The Grateful dead were no more. Sure they used the name, but The dead were much more than a name. The battle of the night had raged through the 1990's and changed the scene forever. By 1995 we saw Jerry crumble from all he saw and indeed, was by then, a part of. The battles were real. At time jerry was like a puppet on strings. They battles were fought and lost. Reminiscent of the native Americans, the "White man" kept coming with no end and more power than could be defended. Even the "Heads" were consuming his soul like it was the drug of their addiction. He was getting hit from everywhere. It was Jerry's attempt to get out, his efforts to stop supporting the hate. He was fighting a battle that was killing him on the inside and that got him. By 1992 Jerry and the Grateful dead were a commodity like feed cattle. In the end, it was not just his efforts to get sober, but all of the harshness combined that caused his demise. By 1994 I couldn't even stand to go anymore, I too could not keep up the fight. It was taking a toll on my own life. The war that Nixon started and Reagan perfected had consumed too much of me. The "heads were so addicted to Jerry, they couldn't leave him alone even if it meant saving his life. At the end, the culmination of it all brought about by the War on Drugs and Reagans paranoia, corruption, greed and those that feed on power, 9/11/2001. Love died, it is only a memory for us now. How sweet it was to be loved by you dear Greatful dead. You will forever be a part of my soul. May the four winds blow you safely home and my love try to be love again. There, I said the quiet part out loud.

Gotta Give credit where Credits due. I always prefer shows With Brent. Such a Good Player. Had the greatest feel. Love His Feel. R.I.P. BROTHER Brent...

i loved Brent so much. I would be mostly watching him when we went to see them here in beautiful Oregon. My big brother Roy probably thot I was nuts. I miss him ... :).

You always hear a lot about Bob and Jerry, For me, Brent was amazing, Brent backing up jerry was some of the best Dead ever played. While Jerry Held it together after Brents passing, The band was never as good. The Grateful dead Died when Brent left us. While I know Brent was the third in line of the fateful stage left, He was the soul that pulled it all together and delivered to us the love that was the dead. It was all downhill from here. Try as they might, the love died with Brent.

I so remember this night.

I feel so bad for Brent’s little girl to grow up I hope knowing her dad was famous & died by accident !

It does sound like my friend can stick around now that I’ve heared it a few times , it’s so sad to lose the two best of them to drugs 😢😥🥲

When I think deep into Brent’s life I think his wife or girlfriend left him because he knew how much to do so I think he went on his own way !
