The mother asked her what she was going to do with herself, when she should’ve been asking her other two daughters, who refuse to do anything with their lives.

That grandmother is a hero. She checked her grown daughter for trying to hold her own young daughter back. She wanted the best for her.

I believe Michael Jackson was inspired by this movie a little. He was honest about growing up with toxic parents and toxic siblings. He said they used to tease his good looks and his father used to beat on him, whilst his mother never stopped the beatings. He also never had a child hood because he had to work since a child, but when he became a huge star, he left home and built never land.

The way those jealous sisters and that girls mother kept yelling at her and blaming her for everything was disgusting. No wonder she left and never looked back.

I love when she left her toxic family alone and chased her dreams. There is hope out there.

I wonder if Michael Jackson got the name Billie Jean from seeing this movie.

This is something I've seen in other families. Makes me happy for mine.

This was a good motivational movie!

The interaction between the mother and father felt fast, 2 grown people revisiting a place they used to visit, and talking about their past while talking about their present. I like this movie, it feels so character-driven and that’s what I like with movies.

The mother & 2 older sisters had white man self hate syndrome. Thank the Lord Netta came into this family life.
