Welcome to Simply Home and Harvest!
Today we’re in the kitchen baking up some goodies for a Bible study that we are hosting in our home.
I wanted something quick, easy and delicious.
My daughter made these cookies recently and they were AMAZING!! So I definitely wanted to make those but I needed something else to go with them. Gooseberry Patch to the rescue!! The “Gooseberry Patch Quick and Easy Family Favorites” Cookbook did not disappoint. “Grandma K’s Coffee Cake” was not only easy but oh so delicious!!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

1½ c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter
¼ c. brown sugar
¾ c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 c. (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 c. uncooked oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350°. Mix flour with salt and soda. Blend butter and sugar. Bake in eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy. Stir in dry ingredients, oatmeal and chocolate chips. Drop butter by teaspoons 2 inches apart onto ungreased sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Cool.


Grandma K’s Coffee Cake

½ c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. sugar
1 t. vanilla extract
¼ t. salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 t. baking soda
Topping, divided

Blend together first 4 ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add eggs and mix well. Add sour cream, flour and baking soda. Pour half of batter into a greased 13"x9" baking pan; sprinkle with half of Topping. Pour other half of batter into pan and top with the remaining Topping. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes 16 to 18 servings.
