Interesting first hand experience based perspective of this process granted admittedly its at least a generation back (I remember the good old days of the tail end of analog to digi transition quite well and fondly ) but I would like to bring up the trend I see so very many industries falling into and thats the good old CHINA BUSSINESS MODEL get the money at any costs now place the blame and price on the consumer. And frankly it wasn't an issue for me until it sunk its claws into the gaming hardware industry and then the gaming dev industry as whole (im looking at you D4 Season of the BETA) Hopefully people start to reward companies who treat them like customers again and the companies notice and follow suit, one can dream cant they? xD

I still, love love LOVE my brick n mortar stores (Canada Computers for me here).

if they would just called steve and if he could tell them that the item was "open box" and he didn't open it it could have been solved
but newegg ignored steve's atempts to cantact support

and if newegg would have looked at the item's "history" they also could have found that it was an open box and it was already damage before shiping it to steve ......

Shame NewEgg declined like this. They were my go to ages ago. They supplied my GeForce 4 rig and my 480GTX build.

The 1080 build? I went elsewhere. There were already rumblings of problems then. My current build last week was 100% Amazon. Amazon may have its issues, but they have a no hassle replacement policy and every component showed up new in unopened boxes.

Newegg posts stock pics of the items but in the case of open box those should also include the actual item so as to prevent any questions of when/if the item is damaged. Ebay is shady like that too purposely not showing the socket with out the cover so one can see the pins before clicking buy. The rest is correct and well said Paul!

I also bought new motherboard from NewEgg and it was bad. Worked about a minute, 'pop' from power supply section and all went dead. Read reviews of that motherboard - many reviewers said NewEgg was voiding warranty claims by claiming 'CPU LGA socket pins were bent thereby voiding the warranty'. Having read that - I took it into work and photographed entire LGA socket array of pins under magnification. Also had a coworker examine the socket to verify all socket pins were intact. The photos showed that none were bent out of shape and were all in pristine shape. Sent board back for replacement - and they instantly made the 'bent socket pin' statement and rejected my claim. Told them I had photos and asked them to let me know specifically which pins were bent. No response from NewEgg regarding bent pins. But shortly after that - i received a 'new motherboard was shipped' message. Prior to this, I went through many purchases from NewEgg. No more...

This is why I only order "simple" inexpensive items from Newegg like single SSDs, cables, hard to find adapters, etc. I love Newegg's very detailed search function that helps to zero in on the exact part you want. But, for anything expensive or complex (like a motherboard, CPU, GPU, etc.) I use their awesome search to find exactly what I want and then buy it from somewhere more trustworthy.

Late response, GameStop pulled this on me when I purchase a used PS3. They packaged a damaged 3rd party controller and a damaged power cable. When I returned it back to the store, they claimed that I damage the cable and switch out the original controller therefore they were unable to accept a return or refund. A lesson IO learn that if you buy a used Item from a local retail store, make sure you open it and inspect it first before you pay and take it home. Sadly can't be said about online shopping.

I truly believe the cause of all this is organizational incompetence and not malice. I don’t think Newegg is setting out to sell people bad parts to make a quick buck. Along the line, some technician forgot to mark those boards bad. When they received the return without repair, someone thought that they were indeed repaired and sold them as such. This was a catastrophe of incompetence and certainly miscommunication, and I guarantee you every executive was pulling their hair out for a week trying to figure out how something so obviously stupid and wrong could have happened.

That’s what you get when you apply Occam’s razor, at least. The alternative is “Newegg management conspiracy to defraud all customers and bankrupt their brand image in the process.” Very doubtful about that. Companies who sell computer parts know that their consumers are not stupid and will call them out when something is done wrong.

I thought the balanced and fair take in this video was nice to watch. Newegg ought to never let this happen again if they don’t want to lose all their market share.

I ordered the LG 55 inch C2 OLED from Newegg on 11/4/22. The item was originally supposed to arrive on 11/11/22. On 11/8/22 the item was still in the warehouse and no shipping info was even sent to CEVA to pick it up, which I found out after calling CEVA and providing them with the tracking number Newegg gave me. Finally the shipper picks up the package on 11/9/22 after I filed a claim on 11/8/22 and the shipper had a delivery date of 11/16/22. After all of this my item was HUGELY delayed while in the shipper's posession! I contacted both CEVA and Newegg and all I got was "This will be resolved shortley". FINALLY after 2 weeks of waiting on the early morning of 11/21/22 the shipper called me and scheduled a delivery date of 11/22/22 between 12:00pm and 6:00pm that afternoon. I waited all day and the tracking never moved so I contacted the same phone number that called me to schedule the delivery with me only to find out that on the day of delivery Newegg contacted the shipper and told them to return the tv and Newegg took it upon themselves to resend another TV in it's place. Now I have to wait another who knows how long to get my tv AGAIN! I contacted customer support to request a refund and was told that I had to wait for Newegg to receive the original tv back before they could refund my money. This is not fair to me BY NO MEANS!! I never received the item so why should I have to wait for them to get the item back, which could take another 2 weeks or even longer after the episode I just had with them?! I should have been able to get my credit card refunded IMMEDIATELY after what I just went through! Seriously considering consulting my lawyer! I could understand if i actually received the item then sent it back to have to wait on a refund, this is ridiculous business practice and should be illegal!

Newegg sent me an open box Asrock radeon 6600 xt, what I ordered was a brand new MSI 3070 ti. I was very upset to open the box and see but they did create the RMA as soon as I called but of course they are holding my actual order until the return is received. I didn’t do anything but take photos and package the open box 6600 back up right away. I would love to know how someone can order a brand new 3070 ti approx $700 but to be sent an open box Asrock Radeon 6600 which is selling on their site for $239. Should open box items and brand new items not be warehoused separately?

Smiling!
I often shop in the early hours of the day, being retired I stay up to 2am most nights.
Sunday, Oct. 9th I bought 1496 dollars worth of new parts to build a computer.
Monday Oct 10th almost all the part had gone down in price or had a coupon code worth a percentage off. I thought I will call Newegg and see if they would give me credit for the difference in price since it was still siting in the building. Columbus Day and no one to answer the phones. I reached out to the contact us via chat and was told I should return the order and order it at the lower price. That is not something I do.
Called Newegg Oct. 11th told them what was going on and was told they would talk to a supervisor, came back and said they would give me a store credit of 10 dollars off the 3070 video card, that I had ordered 2 days before the rest of this order. (was only going to upgrade my CPU and graphics card at the time)
The Asus Tuff Gaming Pro mother board had gone down 30 dollars alone.
They were not obligated to give me the lower price but most any place would if it went down in price in X amount of day.
Got the parts, built the new PC and it is running great, just have a bitter taste knowing I left 55 dollars on the table for ordering a day before the price drop and coupon codes.
You 25 dollar credit would have been nice but the 10 credit was more or less a slap in the face insult.

I sent my gaming laptop into Newegg and they said because I had opened it to put in more ram and storage that they would not do the repair/ return/ replacement themselves. Whom ever opened my laptop popped the keyboard up and also tried to unscrew a "rubber" indent thinking it was a screw. Seems like they have a bunch of employees who lied on their resume.
