Can You Light DIESEL With A Match?! | Ex-Machinery

As we all know, diesel is an easily combustible fluid that should be treated with caution. Smoking at gas stations for example, is prohibited.

But.. is Diesel as flammable as Gasoline? What are the differences? Why is it so hard to light Diesel with a match? Our video shows that it is possible to light diesel with a match, however it takes far longer to ignite as opposed to Gasoline. This is because diesel has a far higher ignition temperature.

Also, why is this man smoking at the gas station talking about diesel not being flammable?

Great demo! Showed me exactly what I needed to know. Props to you for being like, "This counter top looks like a great place to demonstrate burning fuel." Kitchen probably smelled like gasoline for weeks. 😆

1000°c match tip? Shouldn't that get the diesel way over 55° like stupid fast?

The flash point of petrol, also known as gasoline, typically ranges from -45°C to -50°C (-49°F to -58°F). .....?

But in your video it was written -23°C..

Can anybody please explain !

Diesel will only ignite rapidly if the oil is mixed with a pile of paper or sawdust. I plan on running a sawdust stove with free diesel in the mix.

Hopefully, that fire will achieve a temperature hot enough to forge steel. Making free diesel shouldn't be that hard. Tires are your best diesel reserve.

Totally wrong! first of all the tip of a match is only 300°C and second diesel will burn with a match just put the diesel in a plant sprayer and put it on a fine mist spray. It will burn instantly when sprayed. Thats because gasoline evaporates much faster then diesel and it are the fumes from gasoline that burn rapidly when its a puddle.

I use diesel to get my wood-stove burning. I just pour it over the wood. It's a lot safer than gasoline.

1: this is another click bait with more bs info as per :/
2: a match burns at around 600-800c so no clue where the heck you're getting 1000c from pal XD
3: diesel #1 has a flashpoint of 100f
4:diesel #2 has a higher flashpoint of 125f+
5: you're clearly using a deisel-mix to lower it's true flashpoint hence the (clickbait and bs info)
6: you officially SUCK
7: you're science is lacking facts
8: you clearly don't know your chemical physics
9: gasoline being a volatile chemical compared to diesel is an handicap experiment XD
10: did i already say you suck?! lol

happy days people :)
